The past is present. Ayn Rand's *Atlas Shrugged* and Fiennes' *Coriolanus* 2011 film

Well before the 2016 election, probably when I feared the results, I began re-reading Atlas Shrugged again for at least the fourth time. It is amazingly contemporarily apt. One may recall the Miracle Motor as a central device. I pray we can afford to pursue the EM Resonant Cavity Motor given the social circumstances illustrated by Ayn Rand.

As well for Coriolanus, first by Shakespeare in 1605 and reinterpreted by Ralph Fiennes in 2011. Both versions well portray Les Deplorables that bring down an elite. Classically, a tragedy requires a fatal character flaw, and in Caius Marcius Coriolanus it is his contempt for the plebeians. Fiennes' visuals are great! The opening scene has Caius Marcius denying the plebeians grain for their lack of military service.
