AOWs

I need/want a house gun. I was looking at a kit to change the Moss 500 to a mag feed. It comes with a new receiver and a few internals that you swap out on your 500. I think I will start with just the receiver and apply for an AOW stamp and use the Moss 14" barrel kit. Add a pistol grip, fore and aft......'voila...AOW.

Now I find that the 14" is NOT NFA. Well, it is that 26" rule that concerns me. I think I will apply for the stamp and be safe.

Comments? Concerns?

Stop Lying

jeudi 25 décembre 2014

...."The lie that Officer Wilson shot Brown while he had his hands up and was pleading “Don’t shoot.”

The lie that New York City policemen targeted Eric Garner for a violent arrest because he was black.

The lie, peddled especially by the progressive prince of New York City, Mayor de Blasio, that the police are racist.

These are the lies that fuel hatred for the police, because if the police routinely execute black men in cold blood and serve a thoroughly racist system, they deserve to be hated.

They should be the subject of nightly protests. They should be showered with obloquy."

This video make's zero sense! 1911 vs Glock!

This guy states no information that would make his argument valid when it comes to Glock vs 1911. He made claims stating changing the grip on the 1911 would mess with it and cause it to stove pipe/ or failure to feed. He also stated he rarely sees anyone in his class use a 1911 and not have issues with it. I can't figure out if this guy is ranting due to having a bad 1911 or he's a huge egotistic fan boy of Glock. Figure I post this to see what you all think he's trying to throw out there.

"Perceived Carry Decoys" No, Really. You've got to see this stuff.

http://ift.tt/1xkSiEd

Quote:

What are Perceived Carry Decoys? We're glad you asked! Perceived Carry Decoys is a veteran owned entity that offers the worlds first and only way to exercise your 2nd amendment right, without the stigma or concerns associated with owning a gun.

PCD understands that not everyone is comfortable with owning an actual firearm. But why should those feelings affect your personal safety?

Now they no longer have to. With the launch of Perceived Carry Decoys, you may now give off the appearance that you are toting serious heat, while in actuality you have nothing more than a one piece device attached to your hip that is as harmless as a cell phone.

You no longer have to worry about young children finding a loaded weapon. This all-in-one piece construction does not come apart. At a fraction of the price of a real firearm, you too may enjoy the benefits of carrying a weapon, without having to shell out hundreds(sometimes $1000's) of dollars for something that statistics show probably will not and/or should not be used.

A PCD device is meant to be a means of crime deterrent, rather than a means of self defense. After all, who's going to run up on a person with a gun?

While these are not actual firearms, their extreme resemblance to real guns tucked neatly in a holster may be enough to give you the jump on anyone who may wish to do you or your family harm.

The whole purpose of open carry is to give off the "don't mess with me" persona. The whole purpose of Perceived Carry Decoys is to give off the appearance that you too are ready for anyone, anywhere.

Amazingly, it manages to go even farther downhill from there.

Now I'm not opposed to an ex-Marine making a buck to supplement the lack of a pension because he only served one tour. At least he does not come right out and call himself an "operator".

Sadly, there are folks out there that will buy into this, once they find out about it. A good number of them will probably be those that should not have guns in the first place - not real ones, not airsoft ones, not squirt guns, and not these ... these ... these "contraptions".

Einstein was right (even if he never said it): "There are only two things infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the first one."

I looked and looked but could not find a facepalm big enough for this.

stay safe.

Conn. Supreme court ruling regarding CGS Sec 29-38; arms transport in Motor veh.

As I have stated numerous times, 29-38 prohibits transportation of handguns w/o a permit. Hence one cannot either take them on a move to another residence nor transport the gun to a range for practice.

There has been many arguments concerning my interpretation of 29-38 ...

In a recent case, opinion rendered public today,

http://ift.tt/16MKzTJ

The Conn. supreme court reversed a guy's conviction under 29-38 when he was moving his knife and baton to an new dwelling. The court recognized first that the knife and baton were covered by the 2nd amendment and then ruled that 29-38 was unconstitutional when applied to him moving from one dwelling to another.

A chink in 29-38 was created here and I think that now, there is no question that 29-38 would be ruled unconstitutional for people who want to go to a range with their handgun w/o a permit; however, the law currently is that you must have a permit.

Low-lying fruit here.

Hartsfield-Jackson Delta employee charged with smuggling guns onto JFK bound plane

lundi 22 décembre 2014

Channel 2 Action News has confirmed federal charges for a Delta employee. He's accused of helping to put 18 firearms on a plane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2 Action News is the only station to get a hold of the criminal complaint before federal court closed within the past hour. In a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit obtained only by Channel 2 Action News, we learned that agents believe a current employee working in Atlanta helped another man smuggle the guns onto a flight.

Is this considered open carry.

So if a licensed or non licensed person is carrying a handgun in plain sight in their vehicle it wouldn't be an OC violation as long as it's "Snapped in a holster" correct? Snapped in a holster meets the states definition of securly encased and the state makes no mention of whether it can be visible or not, only that the law shouldn't be construed to allow non licensed persons to carry it on them concealed.

I'm on vacation and the laws of the states I'm going through/staying in got me reading ours again. So far Fl has the best laws except for no oc. Nc has, real retarded stuff in their laws imho but they can oc though.

Supreme Court rules an officer’s misunderstanding of a law is protected

http://ift.tt/1wOLdcK

Quote:

The case was brought up to a North Carolina appeals court who, according to VOX, agreed the stop was unlawful. The case was then heard by the state’s highest court and the Supreme Court, who both ruled in favor of the officer, saying even if the officer does not know the technical aspects of a law, a search and seizure is still constitutional.

Now while this was a traffic case the implications for open carriers is horrible.

BamaCarry, INC local chapter operation "Santa Clause"

mercredi 17 décembre 2014

Open Carry Tuscaloosa leader member, Paul Arnold, came up with the idea to raise a little money to help out a needy family. We talked about it and wondered if we might raise $200 or $500. We just didn't know. After contacting the Sprayberry Center here in Tuscaloosa we were advised of a family that really needed some help. We surely sold the members of our local group short. (I'm sorry for that) No only did the group raise that much, we surpassed it handily. With a final monetary number of $1,680.00 plus other donations we were blown away. Please click the link for the local news story on it. They didn't get our name right but it's not really about us anyways. It's about helping others. Merry Christmas guys!!

WA state sheriff deputy "We have a lot of Constitutionalists" to justify MRAP use.

How much longer are we going to sit in our comfy, warm pot of warm water? Don't wait until it boils or it will be too late.

From web site above:

"Thalen said a local resident asked two deputies why vehicles designed for combat in places like Iraq and Afghanistan would be needed. The deputy responded by saying there are "a lot of constitutionalists and a lot of people that stockpile weapons, lots of ammunition."

“They have weapons here locally," the deputy added. Thalen said the shocking admission indicates that law-abiding gun owners who support the Constitution are under surveillance by local authorities and it solidifies concerns by many that conservatives are being targeted by law enforcement agencies."

At what range should one sight his hand gun i for.

mardi 16 décembre 2014

For decades I always like sighing my hand guns in for a half to one inch high at 25 yards.

For many bullets out of many common calibers I found that this sight in allows me to make shots out to 75 yards and be with in a couple of inch's of my point of aim.

With higher velocity calibers like a 125 357 at 1300fps plus a 75 yard zero makes even more sense. Allowing dead on hold out to 100 yards and still be within a few inches of point of aim

As we know that most self defense shooting happen at really close range one isn't hurt my a longer sight in distance being. Ones bullets well strike with in a half of inch at the closer ranges.

But if ever needed one simple has to hold dead on at the longer ranges and know that ones bullet well hit very near ones point of aim.

On the slower velocity calibers with bullets less the 900 fps a 35 or 40 yard zero could make more sense as the bullet drop at these lower velocities is greater.

Opting for the max range were ones bullets strike within strike with in an inch or 2 through out their flight can make a lot sense

At what range should one sight his hand gun i for.

El Paso 1918 - about 100 years ago - immigration still a problem

With all of the reporting on police calls, and the journalistic niceties, it is interesting to read about how things were 'back in the good old days' before political correctness. Wife's family is from El Paso, but this predates most of them by a few years. The location of the shootout is now where the railroad yard is in downtown El Paso.

Here's a little bit of the description of the carnage the perp did after he had been drinking and went crazy - article doesn't go into any reason 'why he did it'. Also interesting to read about the various weapons brought to bear on the 'accused' murderer....

Beside the shattered outhouse, on the west side and in front of the door was the body of Juan M. Garcia, an employe of the city tax collector's office. He had followed Alvarez to the door of the building when the earliest engagement occurred before midnight, shooting as he went. His body was covered with brick dust and mortar, but was not mangled by the shock of the explosion. Officers who had been near him when he fell, but who did not know his identity until after Alvarez had been killed, had seen him fall.

"The blankety-blank got me right through the guts," Garcia called as he dropped to the ground. The bullet had penetrated his abdomen, and death had followed soon. Papers on his body served to identify him.

open carry when pulled over - informing / not informing the officer - advice wanted

lundi 15 décembre 2014

To make this short and as factual as possible....

I was pulled over this past weekend while driving.

Turned truck off, rolled window down, dome light on before the officer even got out of his car.

The officer informed me the reason for his stop was that I had a headlight out and asked for DL and Insurance. He questioned if I had "anything in the vehicle he needed to be aware about".

At this point I found myself wondering the following questions:

Do you have to inform an LEO of open carrying in a vehicle if they do not ask?

Do you have to tell them there is a firearm in the vehicle if they do ask?

I informed him I value my privacy and that the contents of what is in my vehicle are not any of his concern. He seemed agitated by this remark response. (sorry but that's his problem).

He asked a second time.

Now, keep in mind he didn't ask about a firearm just the "anything that he needed to be aware of/about", but at this point I went ahead and did inform him I was carrying openly on my hip.

He asked again about anything else, to which I informed him, "no".

When he returned, he informed me that "it is a lawful request by an LEO, and that you have to tell them if you have a firearm or not in your vehicle" (not going to argue vernacular on this) so I said "ok".

The stop was without any further problems, rather quick, and no citations issued.

Please keep in mind that I was professional and respectful to the officer / but not the warm, gonna give him a hug, nice either... LOL

I'm not "bashing" the officer or anything like that, I just found it odd with the "lawful request" statement he made.

My own ignorance on the situation, made me think about the above two questions.

I am not asking for "legal advice" but if someone could point me in the right direction, or to the law stating this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

News agencies still reporting on original Grisham arrest as if recent

So, some news workers are still pulling up the original Grisham arrest and miscommunicating that it occurred recently... But anyway, what I found interesting are the analysts' comments that the arresting officer seemed poorly trained and as though he invented a reason to arrest so that he wouldn't have to take the cuffs off. They're still having a hard time letting go the notion that a citizen did "something wrong" when they're unlawfully arrested, though.

"Bullets, Burgers, and Resolutions" January 2015 OC lunch

Hello there everyone,

I wanted to get a feel for what Saturday would work best for another OC outing, this time preceded by some time at the range!:)

Details:

Who: OCers, CCers, and other Freedom-loving individuals.

What: OC lunch and range time

Where: Scottsdale Gun Club, and a great burger place we found some months back (will be calling them to see if it can be a "formal" event).;)

When: Saturday in January; looking at the possibility of the 31st, though the 17th or 24th would work as well.

Why: Because perfect practice makes perfect, and friendly banter among friends never hurts.

As always, one need not carry to join us; OC, CC, or no-C, just grace us with your company and let us hear what New Year's Resolution you've already given up on.:p

We're hoping to make this a monthly occurrence, so let me know of places that have respected our RKBA and our choice to OC (also, remember that some of our members are under 21 and cannot CC or receive a CCW permit).

Again, let me know which of these Saturdays works best for you and yours.:)

Christmas

This thread may get nuked, if so I understand.

Every year I try to give something to someone that really needs it. Not the Salvation Army or anything that will take a chunk, just something that will help someone that has real problems that aren't his making.

Well, this hasn't been a banner year for me after my June adventure so I'm not giving nearly as much as usual.

Recently I ran across a man who is a gun owner, a hunter, a supporter of the 2nd Amendment and is confined to a wheelchair, who depends on deer for much of his food for the year. He gets minimal Social Security and nothing else.

For those that don't know, due to a lot of factors, disease, coyotes and I strongly believe, over hunting, deer kills are way down in a lot of areas. Since his hunting is dependent mostly on organized hunts, he can't just stroll out when he has time like the rest of us and he's come up short so far.

Other hunters have donated deer to him but I picked him for a small cash donation to be sent to the organizer of one of those hunts.

I know cash is tight now, believe me I know.....but if anyone is interested in sending five or ten dollars, PM me and I'll tell you where to send it.

Sorry, no paypal account.

I know I can not carry in the court house of any county, but are they required to provide me with a locker to secure my firearm in while I am conducting business there? I only ask because I am required to go to court next month because I saw some one do something they was not supposed to do and I have to tell the judge and jury that. I do not want to walk the streets of downtown Pittsburgh with out my CC/OC firearm. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Is Gallup on reservation land?

While travelling from Texas to Nevada and back I OC'd all the way through NM. However, we stopped for dinner in Gallup on the way and it appeared to be reservation land so I played safe and left my Sig locked in the car. According to my map, the area isn't reservation land, but I wondered if anyone could clarify that?

I did ask the young girl in the Cracker Barrel we ate at if she knew and she said "I think so" but didn't seem sure at all. The clientel was predominantly native American and there were tons of indian related shops near by. Not sure if there's more than one Cracker Barrel but this one was on the west side of town off I-40.

I could be wrong (the thing is vague at best) but it reads as tho the DOL is supposed to decide the "rules and regs" for this nitemare of a piece of legislation. I feel like I am being set up for an arrest for not knowing the letter of the (as of now unwritten) law.

I need clarification. You need clarification. We deserve clarification by thoise we have elected and those who work for the Public. To do this I suggest we ask. All of us. Ask everyone what the rules are until we get an answer or they drop it as unworkable.
