AOWs

I need/want a house gun. I was looking at a kit to change the Moss 500 to a mag feed. It comes with a new receiver and a few internals that you swap out on your 500. I think I will start with just the receiver and apply for an AOW stamp and use the Moss 14" barrel kit. Add a pistol grip, fore and aft......'voila...AOW.

Now I find that the 14" is NOT NFA. Well, it is that 26" rule that concerns me. I think I will apply for the stamp and be safe.

Comments? Concerns?

Stop Lying

jeudi 25 décembre 2014

...."The lie that Officer Wilson shot Brown while he had his hands up and was pleading “Don’t shoot.”

The lie that New York City policemen targeted Eric Garner for a violent arrest because he was black.

The lie, peddled especially by the progressive prince of New York City, Mayor de Blasio, that the police are racist.

These are the lies that fuel hatred for the police, because if the police routinely execute black men in cold blood and serve a thoroughly racist system, they deserve to be hated.

They should be the subject of nightly protests. They should be showered with obloquy."

This video make's zero sense! 1911 vs Glock!

This guy states no information that would make his argument valid when it comes to Glock vs 1911. He made claims stating changing the grip on the 1911 would mess with it and cause it to stove pipe/ or failure to feed. He also stated he rarely sees anyone in his class use a 1911 and not have issues with it. I can't figure out if this guy is ranting due to having a bad 1911 or he's a huge egotistic fan boy of Glock. Figure I post this to see what you all think he's trying to throw out there.

"Perceived Carry Decoys" No, Really. You've got to see this stuff.

http://ift.tt/1xkSiEd

Quote:

What are Perceived Carry Decoys? We're glad you asked! Perceived Carry Decoys is a veteran owned entity that offers the worlds first and only way to exercise your 2nd amendment right, without the stigma or concerns associated with owning a gun.

PCD understands that not everyone is comfortable with owning an actual firearm. But why should those feelings affect your personal safety?

Now they no longer have to. With the launch of Perceived Carry Decoys, you may now give off the appearance that you are toting serious heat, while in actuality you have nothing more than a one piece device attached to your hip that is as harmless as a cell phone.

You no longer have to worry about young children finding a loaded weapon. This all-in-one piece construction does not come apart. At a fraction of the price of a real firearm, you too may enjoy the benefits of carrying a weapon, without having to shell out hundreds(sometimes $1000's) of dollars for something that statistics show probably will not and/or should not be used.

A PCD device is meant to be a means of crime deterrent, rather than a means of self defense. After all, who's going to run up on a person with a gun?

While these are not actual firearms, their extreme resemblance to real guns tucked neatly in a holster may be enough to give you the jump on anyone who may wish to do you or your family harm.

The whole purpose of open carry is to give off the "don't mess with me" persona. The whole purpose of Perceived Carry Decoys is to give off the appearance that you too are ready for anyone, anywhere.

Amazingly, it manages to go even farther downhill from there.

Now I'm not opposed to an ex-Marine making a buck to supplement the lack of a pension because he only served one tour. At least he does not come right out and call himself an "operator".

Sadly, there are folks out there that will buy into this, once they find out about it. A good number of them will probably be those that should not have guns in the first place - not real ones, not airsoft ones, not squirt guns, and not these ... these ... these "contraptions".

Einstein was right (even if he never said it): "There are only two things infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the first one."

I looked and looked but could not find a facepalm big enough for this.

stay safe.

Conn. Supreme court ruling regarding CGS Sec 29-38; arms transport in Motor veh.

As I have stated numerous times, 29-38 prohibits transportation of handguns w/o a permit. Hence one cannot either take them on a move to another residence nor transport the gun to a range for practice.

There has been many arguments concerning my interpretation of 29-38 ...

In a recent case, opinion rendered public today,

http://ift.tt/16MKzTJ

The Conn. supreme court reversed a guy's conviction under 29-38 when he was moving his knife and baton to an new dwelling. The court recognized first that the knife and baton were covered by the 2nd amendment and then ruled that 29-38 was unconstitutional when applied to him moving from one dwelling to another.

A chink in 29-38 was created here and I think that now, there is no question that 29-38 would be ruled unconstitutional for people who want to go to a range with their handgun w/o a permit; however, the law currently is that you must have a permit.

Low-lying fruit here.

Hartsfield-Jackson Delta employee charged with smuggling guns onto JFK bound plane

lundi 22 décembre 2014

Channel 2 Action News has confirmed federal charges for a Delta employee. He's accused of helping to put 18 firearms on a plane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2 Action News is the only station to get a hold of the criminal complaint before federal court closed within the past hour. In a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit obtained only by Channel 2 Action News, we learned that agents believe a current employee working in Atlanta helped another man smuggle the guns onto a flight.

Is this considered open carry.

So if a licensed or non licensed person is carrying a handgun in plain sight in their vehicle it wouldn't be an OC violation as long as it's "Snapped in a holster" correct? Snapped in a holster meets the states definition of securly encased and the state makes no mention of whether it can be visible or not, only that the law shouldn't be construed to allow non licensed persons to carry it on them concealed.

I'm on vacation and the laws of the states I'm going through/staying in got me reading ours again. So far Fl has the best laws except for no oc. Nc has, real retarded stuff in their laws imho but they can oc though.

Supreme Court rules an officer’s misunderstanding of a law is protected

http://ift.tt/1wOLdcK

Quote:

The case was brought up to a North Carolina appeals court who, according to VOX, agreed the stop was unlawful. The case was then heard by the state’s highest court and the Supreme Court, who both ruled in favor of the officer, saying even if the officer does not know the technical aspects of a law, a search and seizure is still constitutional.

Now while this was a traffic case the implications for open carriers is horrible.

BamaCarry, INC local chapter operation "Santa Clause"

mercredi 17 décembre 2014

Open Carry Tuscaloosa leader member, Paul Arnold, came up with the idea to raise a little money to help out a needy family. We talked about it and wondered if we might raise $200 or $500. We just didn't know. After contacting the Sprayberry Center here in Tuscaloosa we were advised of a family that really needed some help. We surely sold the members of our local group short. (I'm sorry for that) No only did the group raise that much, we surpassed it handily. With a final monetary number of $1,680.00 plus other donations we were blown away. Please click the link for the local news story on it. They didn't get our name right but it's not really about us anyways. It's about helping others. Merry Christmas guys!!

From web site above:

"Thalen said a local resident asked two deputies why vehicles designed for combat in places like Iraq and Afghanistan would be needed. The deputy responded by saying there are "a lot of constitutionalists and a lot of people that stockpile weapons, lots of ammunition."

“They have weapons here locally," the deputy added. Thalen said the shocking admission indicates that law-abiding gun owners who support the Constitution are under surveillance by local authorities and it solidifies concerns by many that conservatives are being targeted by law enforcement agencies."

At what range should one sight his hand gun i for.

mardi 16 décembre 2014

For decades I always like sighing my hand guns in for a half to one inch high at 25 yards.

For many bullets out of many common calibers I found that this sight in allows me to make shots out to 75 yards and be with in a couple of inch's of my point of aim.

With higher velocity calibers like a 125 357 at 1300fps plus a 75 yard zero makes even more sense. Allowing dead on hold out to 100 yards and still be within a few inches of point of aim

As we know that most self defense shooting happen at really close range one isn't hurt my a longer sight in distance being. Ones bullets well strike with in a half of inch at the closer ranges.

But if ever needed one simple has to hold dead on at the longer ranges and know that ones bullet well hit very near ones point of aim.

On the slower velocity calibers with bullets less the 900 fps a 35 or 40 yard zero could make more sense as the bullet drop at these lower velocities is greater.

Opting for the max range were ones bullets strike within strike with in an inch or 2 through out their flight can make a lot sense

At what range should one sight his hand gun i for.

El Paso 1918 - about 100 years ago - immigration still a problem

With all of the reporting on police calls, and the journalistic niceties, it is interesting to read about how things were 'back in the good old days' before political correctness. Wife's family is from El Paso, but this predates most of them by a few years. The location of the shootout is now where the railroad yard is in downtown El Paso.

Here's a little bit of the description of the carnage the perp did after he had been drinking and went crazy - article doesn't go into any reason 'why he did it'. Also interesting to read about the various weapons brought to bear on the 'accused' murderer....

Beside the shattered outhouse, on the west side and in front of the door was the body of Juan M. Garcia, an employe of the city tax collector's office. He had followed Alvarez to the door of the building when the earliest engagement occurred before midnight, shooting as he went. His body was covered with brick dust and mortar, but was not mangled by the shock of the explosion. Officers who had been near him when he fell, but who did not know his identity until after Alvarez had been killed, had seen him fall.

"The blankety-blank got me right through the guts," Garcia called as he dropped to the ground. The bullet had penetrated his abdomen, and death had followed soon. Papers on his body served to identify him.

open carry when pulled over - informing / not informing the officer - advice wanted

lundi 15 décembre 2014

To make this short and as factual as possible....

I was pulled over this past weekend while driving.

Turned truck off, rolled window down, dome light on before the officer even got out of his car.

The officer informed me the reason for his stop was that I had a headlight out and asked for DL and Insurance. He questioned if I had "anything in the vehicle he needed to be aware about".

At this point I found myself wondering the following questions:

Do you have to inform an LEO of open carrying in a vehicle if they do not ask?

Do you have to tell them there is a firearm in the vehicle if they do ask?

I informed him I value my privacy and that the contents of what is in my vehicle are not any of his concern. He seemed agitated by this remark response. (sorry but that's his problem).

He asked a second time.

Now, keep in mind he didn't ask about a firearm just the "anything that he needed to be aware of/about", but at this point I went ahead and did inform him I was carrying openly on my hip.

He asked again about anything else, to which I informed him, "no".

When he returned, he informed me that "it is a lawful request by an LEO, and that you have to tell them if you have a firearm or not in your vehicle" (not going to argue vernacular on this) so I said "ok".

The stop was without any further problems, rather quick, and no citations issued.

Please keep in mind that I was professional and respectful to the officer / but not the warm, gonna give him a hug, nice either... LOL

I'm not "bashing" the officer or anything like that, I just found it odd with the "lawful request" statement he made.

My own ignorance on the situation, made me think about the above two questions.

I am not asking for "legal advice" but if someone could point me in the right direction, or to the law stating this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

News agencies still reporting on original Grisham arrest as if recent

So, some news workers are still pulling up the original Grisham arrest and miscommunicating that it occurred recently... But anyway, what I found interesting are the analysts' comments that the arresting officer seemed poorly trained and as though he invented a reason to arrest so that he wouldn't have to take the cuffs off. They're still having a hard time letting go the notion that a citizen did "something wrong" when they're unlawfully arrested, though.

"Bullets, Burgers, and Resolutions" January 2015 OC lunch

Hello there everyone,

I wanted to get a feel for what Saturday would work best for another OC outing, this time preceded by some time at the range!:)

Details:

Who: OCers, CCers, and other Freedom-loving individuals.

What: OC lunch and range time

Where: Scottsdale Gun Club, and a great burger place we found some months back (will be calling them to see if it can be a "formal" event).;)

When: Saturday in January; looking at the possibility of the 31st, though the 17th or 24th would work as well.

Why: Because perfect practice makes perfect, and friendly banter among friends never hurts.

As always, one need not carry to join us; OC, CC, or no-C, just grace us with your company and let us hear what New Year's Resolution you've already given up on.:p

We're hoping to make this a monthly occurrence, so let me know of places that have respected our RKBA and our choice to OC (also, remember that some of our members are under 21 and cannot CC or receive a CCW permit).

Again, let me know which of these Saturdays works best for you and yours.:)

Christmas

This thread may get nuked, if so I understand.

Every year I try to give something to someone that really needs it. Not the Salvation Army or anything that will take a chunk, just something that will help someone that has real problems that aren't his making.

Well, this hasn't been a banner year for me after my June adventure so I'm not giving nearly as much as usual.

Recently I ran across a man who is a gun owner, a hunter, a supporter of the 2nd Amendment and is confined to a wheelchair, who depends on deer for much of his food for the year. He gets minimal Social Security and nothing else.

For those that don't know, due to a lot of factors, disease, coyotes and I strongly believe, over hunting, deer kills are way down in a lot of areas. Since his hunting is dependent mostly on organized hunts, he can't just stroll out when he has time like the rest of us and he's come up short so far.

Other hunters have donated deer to him but I picked him for a small cash donation to be sent to the organizer of one of those hunts.

I know cash is tight now, believe me I know.....but if anyone is interested in sending five or ten dollars, PM me and I'll tell you where to send it.

Sorry, no paypal account.

Is Gallup on reservation land?

While travelling from Texas to Nevada and back I OC'd all the way through NM. However, we stopped for dinner in Gallup on the way and it appeared to be reservation land so I played safe and left my Sig locked in the car. According to my map, the area isn't reservation land, but I wondered if anyone could clarify that?

I did ask the young girl in the Cracker Barrel we ate at if she knew and she said "I think so" but didn't seem sure at all. The clientel was predominantly native American and there were tons of indian related shops near by. Not sure if there's more than one Cracker Barrel but this one was on the west side of town off I-40.

Should I call the Sheriff, or Ch of B'ham Police for guidance? Should I email, write, call, text patty murry and the rest of the oly crowd for guidance? Maybe mayor bloomburg can give us a class on how to do it.

I could be wrong (the thing is vague at best) but it reads as tho the DOL is supposed to decide the "rules and regs" for this nitemare of a piece of legislation. I feel like I am being set up for an arrest for not knowing the letter of the (as of now unwritten) law.

I need clarification. You need clarification. We deserve clarification by thoise we have elected and those who work for the Public. To do this I suggest we ask. All of us. Ask everyone what the rules are until we get an answer or they drop it as unworkable.

White House to End Controversial "Secure Communities" Program. Ferguson?

President Obama's executive action on immigration will end the "Secure Communities" program. Secure Communities is a controversial deportation program that relies on extensive data collection and biometric identification. Many states, including Illinois, New York, and Massachusetts, withdrew from the Homeland Security program, warning that it undermined public safety and encouraged racial profiling. Secure Communities will be replaced by the Priority Enforcement Program, a targeted program that will focus on removing convicted criminals.

Signs for Rapid Response

dimanche 23 novembre 2014

It was reported that there would be a MDA event in Phoenix today (10-1). Although I only heard about it at the last minute, and didn't have any signs ready, I drove out to the location. There was no one there at noon and no signs of media presence.

Nonetheless, in preparation for the anniversary of last years MDA event, shall we put together some signs that we could use at these or similar events in the future? I would also suggest that we put together either a mailing list or a set of phone numbers to call when last minute notice of these events comes up.

For slogans on signs, how about :

Victim Disarmament = More Victims

Allow Parents and Staff to Protect Our Children

Guns Save Lives (with some artwork from that group)

If people will comment and suggest others, I will help get these printed and we can then distribute to those who will be interested in attending, possibly on short notice.

New 9th District Court ruling should impact Hawaii's "no-issue" permit system?

mercredi 12 novembre 2014

From the California sub-forum:

http://ift.tt/1Ex07V5

Here is another article (which gives more info and in more understandable layman's terms) on this latest development:

http://ift.tt/1Ex07Vc

Excerpt from the 2nd link's article:

"Today, 12 November, 2014, the Ninth Circuit denied the motions to intervene, thus denying requests for an en banc hearing for the decision. Therefore, Peruta stands as the law of the land in the Ninth Circuit. This means that effectively, some version of “shall issue” carry law will become law in all of the Ninth Circuit."

...and Hawaii is in the 9th Circuit.

Buffalo, NY: registration leads to confiscation

.

There's a law in NY state that when a permit holder dies, the family has 2 weeks to transfer ownership of their registered firearms to another permit holder, or sell them to an FFL, or give them to police to hold (for up to 2 years) while someone who was supposed to inherit them tries to get a permit & register the guns to him/herself.

Buffalo police are now comparing death notices to registered firearms owners, then going to the house to demand the family turn over the property.

Registration leads to confiscation!

(Of course, all the family member has to say is that they were turned in during a no-tell "gun buyback".)

Kenya’s Catholic bishops warn tetanus vaccine is ‘disguised population control!"

Is Kenya’s tetanus vaccine a secret sterilization campaign?

The Catholic Church in Kenya is up in arms about a government campaign to vaccinate women against tetanus, saying it contains a hidden agenda to sterilize women and control population growth.

Church officials claim when a woman who is not pregnant gets the vaccine, the Beta HCG subunit, combined with the tetanus toxoid, develops antibodies against tetanus and HCG so that if a woman’s egg becomes fertilized, her own natural HCG will be destroyed, rendering her permanently infertile.

http://ift.tt/1wo1RvH

The bishops, appearing Tuesday before Kenya’s parliamentary health committee, said that an independent testing of the government-touted tetanus vaccine, targeted at women in the reproductive ages of 14 to 49, revealed it was laced with a birth control hormone called beta human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), the D.C.-based Religion News Service reported.

“We are calling on all Kenyans to avoid the tetanus vaccination campaign because we are convinced it is indeed a disguised population control program,” said Bishop Paul Kariuki, chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops’ health committee.

MOTIONS TO INTERVENE DENIED

November 12, 2014

Update November 12, 2014 - The Motions to intervene in the Peruta case were denied. The Order can be read here. I am of the opinion that this can still be appealed via the Peruta case but if it can’t, the Peruta decision can still be appealed indirectly via the Richard’s v. Prieto and Baker v. Kealoha cases and, of course, the Peruta opinion can be appealed indirectly through my case Nichols v. Brown should the Court of Appeals decide that Peruta bars asking for the relief I sought in my lawsuit. Regardless, somebody is going to be filing a cert petition with SCOTUS before all is said and done in this case.

Police mistakenly shoot 911 caller during manhunt

Doesn't say if it was Open Carry or not.. but still - one more reason to never go to Vancouver WA

http://ift.tt/1wnFgPL

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A man who called 911 to report that he had seen a shooting suspect was mistakenly shot by responding law enforcement officers on October 31, Vancouver police said Tuesday.

The man had told police that he spotted 59-year-old John Kendall in the 700 block of Northeast Blanford Drive. A manhunt was under way at the time for Kendall, who deputies said had shot his neighbor earlier that morning.

Background: Suspect dead, two injured in Vancouver shootings

Investigators then confirmed Kendall's cell phone was in the immediate area according to the Vancouver Police Department.

A SWAT team arriving at the scene spotted a man who matched Kendall's description. They were unaware that the citizen who called 911 was still there.

"Law enforcement personnel watched as the citizen (believed to be Kendall) exited his vehicle and circled behind his trunk," police explained. "Fearing that he armed himself, law enforcement fired multiple shots at the individual in order to stop the perceived threat before the citizen could enter the woods."

The man was shot in the leg. He took cover behind a gravel pile and fired a shot back, then he called 911 again, this time to report that he had been shot.

Officers made contact with the man and provided first aid until he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Kendall was found nearby a short time later with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was dead before police arrived, but he and his vehicle were obscured from the view of the SWAT team, according to the police statement.

The man shot by police asked not to be identified. Investigators said there was no apparent connection between him and Kendall.

A regional major crimes team was continuing the investigation.

The law enforcement personnel involved were identified as Corporal Chris Leblanc, 47; Officer Brian Frances, 38; and Deputy Anthony Spainhower, 39. They were placed on administrative leave, per routine in this type of investigation.

The other victim, the neighbor hurt in the initial shooting, was hospitalized with critical injuries to her face and said she will likely lose her right eye.

Murder rate at 45 year low

http://ift.tt/1zkuGwd

Now, the enemy will just say that it would be even lower if we had more gun control. But it is significant that there are more guns than ever, and more people carrying guns than ever, and the rate is the lowest it has been in 45 years. I do enjoy statistics and I believe the evidence shows that more guns means less crime. I'm actually unbiased too. I don't care if more guns meant more crime, we have rights, and they're not determined by the behavior (or potential behavior) of others.

I posted a OC vid on Jul 13, 2014 on YouTube and Cincinnati police call me about 3 weeks ago.

The Lt said they had my name, number and E-mail address.

I didn't give them my mane or ID and they did not see my car.

She said their computer dept. had got it.

My question is wouldn't they need a warrant to get this type of personal info or does YouTube

just give your info out? Or did they hack my account?

I looked and didn't see anything in their Terms of Service about this but I could of missed it.

I am looking into a FOIA request.

Gun grabber Sen. Nasheed had handgun on her at time of arrest, refused breathalyzer,

Missouri State Senator Jamilah Nasheed had a gun in her possession at the time she was arrested Monday night outside the Ferguson Police Department, according to Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson.

Nasheed declined comment about the having the weapon, but did tell News 4 she has a concealed carry permit. A Ferguson police officer said Nasheed was carrying a fully-loaded 9mm handgun and additional rounds of ammunition.

Nasheed said Tuesday she was not intoxicated at the time.

An arrest report, obtained by News 4 Wednesday, states "observation of Nasheed noted that she appeared to be intoxicated while parts of her speech was incoherent and slurred." The arresting officer went on to say "several officers...smelled the odor of alcohol emitting from her breath and person of Nasheed." Charges related to the gun or possible intoxication are being considered by the Ferguson City Prosecutor. According to state law, it is "not illegal" to drink and be in possession of a permitted gun.

The white and green signs have been moved to the windows on either side of the front entrance at Burgundian in Green Lake. The signs are required to be posted at the entrances to areas designated by the Liquor Control Board as off-limits to people under 21. Hackers Target NRA Leader Ahead of Wash. State Gun Control Vote

NRA leader's Facebook account, cell phone targeted by unknown entity

http://ift.tt/1vGtPSN

The head of the NRA’s push against Initiative 594, Washington state’s restrictive gun control measure, says her phone and Facebook account were targeted by hackers only days before the election.

Adina Hicks, the NRA’s Field Representative for the Vote No on I-594 campaign, left a message on her new Facebook account after her prior account was rendered inoperable.

NRAhack

“Just so you all know, the reason you are receiving new friend requests is that my account was hacked and hijacked,” Hicks said. “I am sure by the pro-594 people that must have felt our grassroots movement had a powerful presence on FB.”

Speaking exclusively with Infowars, Hicks stated that she had received a suspicious activity notification from Facebook after her account was accessed from an unknown IP address in New Jersey. Shortly after, her account password was changed, locking her out of her account indefinitely.

Losing more than 800 Facebook friends, the attack dealt a noticeable blow to her personal momentum.

Hicks, who has never before experienced such an incident, also revealed that text messages with strange download links began appearing on her phone as well. Despite the texts appearing to come from close friends, Hicks says her friends denied ever sending them at all.

Other members of the campaign also ran into issues with Facebook, receiving strikes for alleged offenses such as copyright infringement.

Despite attempts by the unknown malicious actor, the campaign has received massive grassroots support in the face of billionaire-funded opposition.

Noted anti-Second Amendment advocates, including Bill Gates, have spent millions on the I-594 campaign, with more than $10 million coming from former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg alone.

On 22 April 2000 GrassRoots South Carolina (later GrassRoots Gun Rights South Carolina) hosted Col. Cooper and his wife and daughter at a celebration of his Eightieth Birthday

The newsletter announcing the event. http://ift.tt/1sf9P8I

I attended with my ailing (ex)FiL on my arm. I won none of the raffles but did enjoy an extended conversation circle with Col. Cooper and attended the dinner. I donated the TV console (remember the behemoths?) that stood-in for the media, tried in absentia and sentenced to death by gunfire - from the GE minigun.

Apropos his precepts of gun safety, vastly discussed here, I remember hearing slightly different statements of them, different from those on-line dated 2003. His statements were made in the conversation circle of perhaps a dozen elderly peer gentlemen, that included my FiL for whom I related the conversations that he couldn't hear.

I remember Col. Cooper as being a particularly well spoken gentleman and not speaking in the terms so often quoted as from him.

At the time of the newsletter I lived in Mt. Pleasant mentioned on page 8.

Is handgun 'open carry' safer for me than 'concealed carry'?

I think so. Some reasons (for debate of course) are:

Enables carrying a handgun:

- With a frame size that fits the hand better than a tiny CC gun.

- Chambered for a more effective (larger) load than a tiny CC gun.

- With more shot accuracy than a CC gun.

- That is more controllable when drawing. Eliminates fumbling with a concealed holster - in the wasteband, pocket, etc.

I'm in Texas now and can't legally 'open carry' unless on private property that allows it, but I grew up in Oklahoma (long time ago)

and never had a problem carrying a gun in a holster in plain site.

What do you think?

Is handgun 'open carry' safer for me than 'concealed carry'?

Marijuana profits up in smoke under IRS 70% rule 280E.

"I believe that the feds extend the drug war through 280E," said Jordan Cornelius, a Denver accountant who has worked with Woolhiser and many other marijuana companies in Colorado. "If (the federal government) can't put them out of business legally when voters are mandating these businesses to move forward, it's very easy to put them out of business financially." It's unclear that the federal government is actively enforcing this tax code in an effort to undermine the legal business, but that is the effect.

skidmark Household:

The Office of Passport Services, U.S. Department of State would like to better serve the Ameeican public's need fpr passport services in the coming months and years. [Do they know something that I don't about my future need for a passport?]

To do this we are conducting interviews ....

....

Your household was selected [couldn't they find a better word to use?] at random. [Yeah, sure.] In order for the results to be statisticall representative , it is important a person who is knowlegable about the travel habits of your household complete the survey. [Is it possible they are not sure and are looking for confirmation?]

Your participation, while voluntary [where have I heard that phrase before?] will be essential to the success of the study. This study is estimated to take less than 10 minutes of your time and there are 2 easy ways for you to participate.

Please do one of the following before November 12, 2014:

1) Go online at ......

Enter the passcode xxxxxxx

OR

2) Call 1-800-tappednumber

Please have the passcode available ....

We will give you a call if we do not hear from you.

....

....

(all bold in the original)

As I see it, I have three possible courses of action:

A) Apply for a passport (I don't have a valid one at the moment and am pretty sure the ones on sale over the internet for $25 will not stand up at a port of departure) and thus telegraph my travel plans to GTFOOD

B) Go online and enter my randomly-generated passcode that will not connect my name or other personal information with the responses I give [yeah, sure, and how much do you want for that ocean-front property in New Mexico?] and enter something like "99999" for every response

C) Wait for them to call me after November 12, 2014. If I choose this option, should I put a note on the door that it is unlocked so they won't risk hurting themselves splintering it open?

What I suggest is that everybody interested in divvying up my stuff meet and carpool down some convenient date after November 12, 2014. I'll leave the key to the safe under the rock next to the back door.

stay safe.

16-23-20 Unlawful Carrying of Handgun; Exceptions.

It is unlawful for anyone to carry about the person any handgun, whether concealed or not, except as follows, unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law:

(8) a person in his home or upon his real property or a person who has the permission of the owner or the person in legal possession or the person in legal control of the home or real property;

OC'd at my parents' house and around their yard. No issues.

I plan on OC'ing when I go back down to SC again when I go hunting with my Dad too. I fully expect some guff from the local swine. The exception is as follows:

(4) licensed hunters or fishermen who are engaged in hunting or fishing or going to or from their places of hunting or fishing while in a vehicle or on foot;

The Horror of Democracy

I'm struck by the lurid details of I-594 in Washington state, which if I know Boobus Amerikanus, will pass handily.

The average Amerikan does not understand (or has even heard) that there is no difference in possessing or peaceably carrying a piece of gum, a shoe, a pencil, a tire, a light bulb, a wrench, or a machine gun. You have as much a right to a machine gun as a head of cauliflower grown in your back yard because as human beings we ought to have a right to our lives and property. But we have a "right to bear arms" in our Constitutional Republic because there is a strong tendency for malignant, controlling, and ignorant Boobs to control others. It's in our DNA. Therefore, we tried to recognize certain rights that some people will want to take away from others. The right to bear arms is one such right. The boobs of Washington state, being funded by sadistic billionaires obviously have never heard the saying "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner"? Really? Freaking pathetic. They get what they deserve. Even the state's top cops (haters of individual freedoms by definition) are blasting it.

Decided to start a new thread so as to stop giving myself sky-high blood pressure every time I saw the old thread at the top.

The original thread: http://ift.tt/1ulsLt2(TOMORROW!)

They are more than likely to "mobilize" (read: be paid to attend) again this year, and it would be nice to have a presence of pro-Rights, anti-rhetoric individuals to counter protest.

They'll have professionally-made signs and coordinated, possibly even pre-rehearsed poses, and will use (yes, USE) the children they bring along as sign holders to push that "guilt factor".

IMPORTANT!:

MDA likes to announce their plans at the last-minute so as to minimize the presence of pro-Rights activists; this is done to have a monopoly on the media coverage of the event in question (again, they revel in dancing on the graves of the victims, seeing as pro-Rights groups hadn't planned anything on that date out of respect for the victims), as well as trying to beat the pro-Rights individuals that are able to attend into submission.

From my experience with them last year, I can attest to their "swarm" tactic of having two or three bombard you with loaded questions such as "why are you against common-sense gun control?" (because history shows it doesn't work, and it ISN'T common sense to disarm the potential victims:rolleyes:) or "we're trying to stop murders of young children. Why are you here?" (to remind people that criminals like unarmed victims, in fact, they seem to COUNT on it).

A referendum on the two-party system, the mid-term elections. Armstrong Williams, TWT

Quote:

[... More. My emphasis.]

Perhaps the biggest “take-home” among all these competing priorities and shifting sentiments is that the two-party system is an imperfect mechanism for governing in an environment that demands more political nuance than usual. Voters have not been able to get enough of what they want from either party without getting too much of what they don’t want from both.

There are too few alternatives outside the two-party system for both expressing voter concerns and making a difference in policy outcomes. The party that wins is usually too mortgaged to special interests and too saddled with the power dynamics to pay attention to its base. And the party in the minority is generally too focused and ideologically closed to garner a governing coalition.

If this is not the very definition of a madhouse straitjacket, I don’t know what is.

Tell me about this .38 long cartridge revolver

I came across this .38 long cartridge revolver when cleaning out my father in law's garage. He didn't know a lot about it, other than it came from his grandpa, and he's never shot it, himself.

I did some research but couldn't find a lot about it online. The manufacturer is GAC Firearms MFG. Co

Does anyone have any familiarity on this piece?

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

"The apartment where the search warrant was executed

consisted of five rooms, including a living room, two bedrooms,

and a kitchen. Police located Joel Moore in the smaller

bedroom, which contained a day bed; it was in disarray with

clothes scattered all over and piled on the bed. The room also

contained a bureau, on top of which was a black backpack. An

officer unzipped the backpack and saw a handle and trigger guard

of what was later identified as a Taurus nine millimeter

semiautomatic pistol (Taurus pistol). The officer also found

two pieces of mail from the Social Security Administration

addressed to the defendant at a different address in Dorchester,

a letter addressed to Eddie Gaston, a box of plastic sandwich

bags, a loaded High Point .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol

(High Point pistol),
a single loose round of ammunition, and

assorted items of very large male clothing."

Columbus Businesses That DO NOT Allow OC

Good evening,

My name is Zach and I just joined the forum. I recently turned 21 and make the exciting purchase of a Glock 23 Gen 4. I have an awesome part time job working at Aumiller's Gun Shop in uptown Westerville (under new ownership if you have prejudice from past experiences) and plan on exercising my 2nd amendment right by OC here in the buckeye state. I was wondering if anyone on the forum knew of any local businesses that DO NOT allow OC. Any and all information and experiences are appreciated.

MOC to Attend Huron Valley School Board Meeting - Monday 11/03/2014

Huron Valley School Board will be discussing the subject of restricting the lawful possession of firearms on school property, at its meeting this Monday. This is in response to a parent who lawfully open carried a holstered handgun recently while accompanying his children to and from school. The parent took extraordinary measures to inform the school administration and the sheriff's department beforehand, in order to prevent hysteria. There was none during any of his visits. The school board has however deemed it necessary to research ways in which to unlawfully curtail the lawful activities of parents.

In an email from MOC Vice President Tom Lambert, the School Board was been provided with all of the statutory citations surrounding the lawful possession of firearms on school property. They were also been provided with the statutory citations indicating that it is unlawful for them to enact any policies regulating firearms on school property. The School Board is not concerned with following state law. They obviously believe they are above the law.

Huron Valley School Board President Rebecca Walsh said the issue of open carrying of handguns will be on the agenda for discussion and possible action at either the Nov. 3 or Nov. 17 meeting of the school board.

Michigan Open Carry will be there representing, and speaking on behalf of the affected parents.

Citizens of the Huron Valley School District, along with other supportive persons are encouraged to attend the board meeting, to let the board know of their opposition to any unlawful actions by the school board.

Only persons with a Concealed Pistol License may lawfully open carry a holstered handgun at this meeting, since it will be conducted on school property.

Both suspects survived but expected to have life long injuries.

I wonder if the picture being titled "Home Coming" was the only reason the school took action. I think the school should have taken notice and investigated. The suspension after it was discovered that no harm was intended is crazy.

Desperate Birmingham crooks are using antique, century-old pistols, say forensic experts leading the fight against gun crime.

Scientists at a secret Birmingham lab tracking the use of firearms across the country have told the Mail the use of modified Baikal gas-powered guns is decreasing.

Criminals are instead relying on plundered war trophies and collectible weapons, sometimes more than 100 years old.

The “shared” firearms have become the weapon of choice for crooks as modern weapons become more expensive and harder to get hold of.

During the 2011 Birmingham riots a St Etienne revolver - used by the French military in 1892 - was fired at the West Midlands Police helicopter outside the Barton Arms, Newtown.

Greater Richmond OC breakfast 11/1 - not happening

I just got up after losing most of yesterday. (I know where I lost it but I will never get it back.) Grapeshot has had a full plate for a few days.

If you were holding out till an announcement was made, go ahead and give in to the hunger pains now.

Better coordination next week is a possibility. Maybe.

Keeping the Maps subsection of OpenCarry.org up to date

The Maps subsection of the OCDO website is a tremendous resource. People can get a good idea of what they can and can't do at a glance. I find it particularly useful because I travel across state lines on a weekly basis for my job (open carrying wherever possible, of course). As such, I think it's important to keep the maps up to date.

I'm not sure who to contact with an update/correction to the maps, so I'm posting here. Maybe the mods can take care of it?

Anyway, for now, I have a correction to the "Travel" map. As of July 1, 2014, the state of Tennessee has no restrictions on unlicensed carry of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. This was established by Senate bill 1774, which amended Tennessee code 39-17-1307, subsection (e). See cjohnson44546's post here.

I'll post here again if I think of any other corrections.

gun seized open carry in car.

hi i am new to this page i thank you in advance for answering my question, so i have open carry permit in Raleigh NC, note that i always have my weapon in its holster on the passenger seat visible, so i get pulled over today and while the officer is getting out the car i reach for the glove box for my registration and leave it open, when the officer approach i inform him that i have a weapon after he tells me the reason why he pull me over, he says OK, and looks at it in the seat then notices the glove compartment is open and ask me if i took it from there and for some stupid reason i answer yes (not true) i was nervous and just didn't know what i was saying the reason begin is that i don't get pulled over often, so then she takes my gun and gives me citation for concealed weapon carry , when she clearly saw my weapon when she approached and on top of that i verbally informed her, so my question is will this be a hard case to win, what she did was right ?

PS: i was pulled over by ncsu police campus police and NC.

Lawsuit Challenges Federal Machine Gun Ban

Linky.

Excerpt:

“By imposing such a ban on an entire class of weapons, the statutes and regulations exceed the power of the United States,” the complaint states. It makes its case by citing violations of Article I of the United States Constitution, the Second, Ninth and Tenth Amendments, and “principles of federalism and dual sovereignty.

“[B]y arbitrarily ‘disapproving’ an already approved Form 1, Defendants’ actions violate Plaintiff’s Fifth Amendment right to due process and is an unjust taking; and violate the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,” the complaint continues. “Plaintiff seeks declaratory and injunctive relief against ... unconstitutional provisions ... declaring the ban on machine guns unconstitutional ... and declaratory and injunctive relief prohibiting Defendants from unjustly taking property without Due Process."

On the face of it, their case appears to have serious merit. I am curious, however, as to how the courts will attempt to wriggle their way around the "shall not be infringed" clause of the Second Amendment, or of the rights-preserving ninth and the powers-limiting tenth.

Police Can Force Users to Unlock Phones With Fingerprints, But Not Passcodes

A Circuit Court judge in Virginia has ruled that fingerprints are not protected by the Fifth Amendment, a decision that has clear privacy implications for fingerprint-protected devices ...

According to Judge Steven C. Fucci, while a criminal defendant can't be compelled to hand over a passcode to police officers for the purpose of unlocking a cellular device, law enforcement officials can compel a defendant to give up a fingerprint.

The Fifth Amendment states that "no person shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself," which protects memorized information like passwords and passcodes, but it does not extend to fingerprints in the eyes of the law

http://ift.tt/1tpeycq

The question of whether a phone's pass code is constitutionally protected surfaced in the case of David Baust, an Emergency Medical Services captain charged in February with trying to strangle his girlfriend.

Prosecutors had said video equipment in Baust's bedroom may have recorded the couple's fight and, if so, the video could be on his cellphone. They wanted a judge to force Baust to unlock his phone, but Baust's attorney, James Broccoletti, argued pass codes are protected by the Fifth Amendment, which prohibits forced self-incrimination.

http://ift.tt/1vpKFW0

Because the constitutional protection of the Fifth Amendment, which guarantees that “no person shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself,” may not apply when it comes to biometric-based fingerprints (things that reflect who we are) as opposed to memory-based passwords and PINs (things we need to know and remember).

MTV politicks. Guns Will Be On Ballots This Tuesday. 3 measures on guns across US.

here are some facts about guns you should consider:

1. Every day, 33 Americans are murdered and 53 people kill themselves with guns.

2. According to Armed Campuses, colleges in Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah and Wisconsin allow the carrying of firearms on their premises, including concealed weapons in three of those states. Lawmakers in 14 other states have introduced bills this year that would allow permit concealed carry on campuses.

3. The U.S. has more guns and gun deaths than any other developed country in the world, with 88 guns per 100 people and 10 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, more than any of the 27 other developed countries, according to a 2013 study by two New York cardiologists.

If you care about these issues and you live in these states, you should get out and vote next Tuesday.

Shooting reloads in my Beretta 92 FS

I took my new Beretta 92 FS out yesterday and shot it for the first time. What a sweet shootin' gun. However, I had an experience that I need advice on. While shooting reloads, the slide would not lock in the open position after the last shot. The slide would be closed, and the trigger would fall on an empty chamber. Is this because of the reloads? It didn't seem to do this while shooting the factory loads, and it only did this on some of the reloads. It even happened when my buddy shot the reloads in his Sig. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

‘Lone Wolf’ terror attacks: Americans with guns are last line of defense. Lott, FNC

What can be done to protect public safety? When police and the military can’t be everywhere, the last line of defense is having more citizens carry guns.

Simply by using the Internet, ISIS has encouraged “lone wolf” individuals. These “wolves” have initiated attacks on their own with no planning or coordination with others and without leaving a trail of clues about their intentions. Law enforcement authorities and our government are not well suited to defend against such individual terror strikes. As Israel has learned about such attacks, there are just too many targets to defend.

Got "Probable Cause"? One District Attorney's attempt to explain why "Yes"/"No"

http://ift.tt/1wkESVP

He gives a rather comprehensive checklist of behaviors and "indicators" of things that add up to/add strength to an officer's determination that Probable Cause exists. Some of the items he discusses have been found to be unsupportable in some jurisdictions, but his "scorecard" system helps an officer build up his case for PC in spite of one or two items not being countable. And no, there is not a baseline score that has to be reached in order to say PC has been "reached". It's more of a reminder of stuff to add to the dogpile in case one element does not stand up to challenge.

Concealed carry, concealing a problem.

Before the m&p shield, and the XDs. for conceal carry especially in the summer, we basically had .380's. While they are better than nothing, we know that the trade off between ballistics and portability is bad enough, however the trade off between ballistics and concealability, (new word) is even harder. In 2009 I purchased a Walther PPS, in .40. It is less than a inch wide, .900 and tucks anywhere, while still delivering 6-7 rounds of "decent" self defense. It was one of the frontrunners to the new rage of larger caliber sub-compacts.

5 years later, I have taken it for granted. It has been a robust, go to gun in the event I could not open carry. While not as fun to shoot as a full size gun, I still take it out and put it through the paces, on occasion. I hope you never experience the horror I did as I was out in the desert doing my regular drills, I Come out of the holster into a 1"square as quickly as I can Guarantee it. As I transitioned to my conceal carry rig, My first presentation from concealment went smooth, then I heard a loud "CLICK." My training appeared, Smack, Rack/Flip, decide to shoot..... "CLICK. Another instant replay, resulted in a "BANG" I put the "dud's in my pocket to inspect later, and continued to practice. The gun ran problem free, but my mind was running as well, What if my life had depended on that first shot?

To say that I was troubled, would be an understatement. As the scenarios of how wrong that could have been, I Started the process of searching for a new, reliable carry piece. But curiosity got the best of me. I had never messed with that gun other than field strip and clean, keeping with the mantra that stock was best, "If it aint broke, don't mess with it." Since it was broke, I decided to knock the pins out and give her a look.

What I found was crazy, I should have taken pictures. While the outside of the gun was in good shape minus some bare spots where the bluing was worn off, the inside sub-frame assembly and inside the slide looked like they had been filled with a redish, orangeish silicon. The steel parts of the sub-frame were coated with a crystallized rust appearing substance. I was mortified that I had no idea. The guns that I train with, I go through all the time, piece by piece. so I had never witnessed such neglect, and it was all on me.

In the end it cleaned up fine. I spent some time on everything, while the polymer frame took a spin through the dishwasher. It is back up and running, and I am not looking for a replacement ...yet. The silicon substance appeared to consist of a mixture of: cleaners and lubricants that had absorbed into lint, and dead skin, that was also subject to salty sweat. Now you know why I did not take pics. Trust me it was gnarly.

I shared this, as I learned a lesson. "If it aint broke, don't mess with it is not accurate." If your life depends on it, learn it, know it, and understand it, while maintaining it.... That "CLICK" sucks!

Funny thing is I am good at the stuff, and do it all the time. Just did not maintain the one that needed it most. (Poor form on my part.)
