Kids missed prom due to being detained.

And I for one do not accept all these school searches. No where in the 4th amendment does it exempt schools. Its made up BS to indoctrinate youngsters to submit to unlawful .gov activities IMO.

Of course, no recourse for these citizens .. qualified immunity for all !

More people killed by duct tape than ARs in Leroy, AL - must ban duct tape?

Stringer says Johnson chased Gully out and Gully either fell or jumped off the back steps. Johnson jumped on him, tied Gully's hands behind his back, put duct tape on his mouth and tied him to a tree with insulated electrical tape and clothesline.

I thought this homeowner left him there to die .. but no, he called 911 ... they arrived TEN minutes later to find the perp dead.

Homelessness

I am looking for some information on statutes, rules and regulations for current legal permit holders that may become or are currently homeless. Especially looking for options for a "physical address" to maintain their valid state or drivers license and permit to carry cards. I know some homeless shelters offer "physical addresses" but about individuals who are waiting for a vacancy will be living on the street or their cars, hotels, campground, ect? I know PO Boxes are not considered a viable address. I look forward to making solutions.

Countering The Three Worst Arguments Against Gun Control

Some diptard liberal took three of our roughly dozen best arguments against gun control and attempted to spin them.

Here's the article.

Here's the three arguments, along with the author's Argument and my Counterpoint:

1. Guns Don't Kill People, People Kill People

Argument 1: "...our public policy toward preventing auto injuries is not confined to punishing careless or reckless drivers following a tragedy. We think it equally important to have a licensing system in place to prevent untrained and potentially high-risk people from driving in the first place. Similarly, we should have laws in place to prevent dangerous people from having guns—at the very least, required background checks for all gun sales."

Counterpoint 1: Licensing does not prevent anyone from getting into a motor vehicle and using it as a weapon of mass attack. Although the truck driver in Nice, France had a license, it certainly wasn't required, and having a license certainly didn't "prevent ... high-risk people from driving in the first place." Put simply, licensing of any sort of weapon (including a motor vehicle) has absolutely no logical or rational impact on the use of that weapon.

Argument 2: "Yes, it is true that dangerous people could turn to other weapons if denied access to guns. But this is a false equivalence. Research shows that attacks with guns are five times more likely to be lethal than attacks with knives, for example."

Counterpoint 2: The Harvard study on guns and suicide concluded otherwise. Specifically, in concluded that when guns were available, people used guns, but when guns were not available, they used other means, and with an equivalent suicide rate.

2. Criminals Don’t Obey Gun Laws, Only Law-Abiding Citizens Do

Subtext: "This is the futility argument. According to the National Rifle Association and its allies, since gun laws are directed at criminals, who of course pay no attention to any laws (that’s why they’re called criminals), gun control can’t possibly be effective, except in making it harder for law-abiding citizens to have guns to defend themselves."

Argument 1: "First, the argument is transparently circular. Of course, as to individuals who are willing to disobey gun laws, the laws are futile by definition.

Counterpoint 1: The argument isn't the least bit circular. By making this fallacious claim, the author reveals he knows absolutely nothing about logical discourse. Furthermore, he admits in this sentence that the laws are futile, then in the next sentence attempts to make a claim that laws are not futile:

Argument 2: "But what about the possibility that there are potentially violent individuals who are deterred from carrying guns by the illegality of doing so?"

Counterpoint 2: The author fails by focusing on the carry of guns, not their use. First, he's trying to establish "the illegality of doing so" when the Constitution's Second Amendment specifically states the contrary, that "the right right of the people to keep (own/possess) and bear (carry) arms shall not be infringed." Second, resoundingly solid laws are already on the books which address the proper focus of the situation, namely, the illegal use of firearms. Keeping and bearing arms is no more illegal, immoral, unethical, or wrong than keeping and driving motor vehicles, including trucks like the one used in the Bastille Day attack in Nice, France. The problem isn't the truck itself, nor is it the possession and driving of the truck. The problem rests with the the illegal (murderous) manner in which the truck was used.

Argument 3: "Surely compliance with a law cannot be determined merely by looking at the instances of when the law is violated. If it could, we would regard all our criminal laws as ultimately futile because all of them are frequently violated. Should we repeal our laws against homicide because murderers don’t obey them?"

Counterpoint 3: Here the author commits several major logical fallacies, including a blatant straw man attack (creating a "straw man" scenario that has no basis in reality then tearing it down in a show of self-righteousness that also has no basis in reality).

Argument 4: "It turns out that there is substantial evidence that many criminals may refrain from gun carrying because of gun control laws. In one survey, incarcerated felons who had not carried weapons during the commission of their crimes were asked why they decided against being armed. Fifty-nine percent chose the response “Against the law.” "

Counterpoint 4: Non-sequitor. The same applies to applies to laws prohibiting firearms from being used in an unlawful manner, such as in the commission of a crime. Many state laws significantly increase the penalty for using a firearm in the commission of a crime, and if the author's premise holds true, then these laws are equally effective without infringing on the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

3. Any Gun Control Is a Slippery Slope to Confiscation

Argument: "Even as a historical matter, there is no basis to believe that enacting some gun regulation leads inevitably to broad gun bans."

Counterpoint: Any student of history knows this is a flat-out lie. Here's a list of such examples.

And thus we come to the end of my rebuttal.

If you would, please visit the link and help counter the author's several illogic. The last thing we need are diptard "journalists" who are published in an unchecked manner.

OC at Rose City Comic Con @ Oregon Convention Center

samedi 30 juillet 2016

I've searched the OCDO site, but did not find any current info.

Rose City Comic Con (10-11 Sept 2016) is in the Oregon Convention Center.

The Oregon Convention Center web page states that it is "... owned and operated by Metro and managed through the Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission. Metro, the Portland area's regional government..."

So, under ORS 166.170 & 173 it would be the same as all of Portland, i.e. Unloaded OC w/o CHL or Any Carry w/CHL.

BUT, the Rose City Comic Con web page states: "No functional weapons are allowed at the Rose City Comic Con. DO NOT BRING REAL SWORDS, GUNS OR ANY TYPE OF AUTHENTIC WEAPON TO THE SHOW. Only props are allowed. Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as part of your costume. No projectile weapons (including but not limited to airsoft or paintball weapons) will be allowed! Weapons with a metal blade, regardless if it is dull or sharp, are prohibited!"

So, am I correct in that Rose City Comic Con, being a renter / leasee holding a ticketed event, that they can set their own rules to enter their event (rules you agree to by buying the ticket)? And outside the Rose City Comic Con, the Oregon Convention Center has to follow ORS laws.

Or am I wrong? I don't see a legal work around on this, RC Comic Con would be like a private property w/public accomidation, follow their rules or be trespassed out.

Thoughts?

Fairfax PD clarifies a citizen's right to film police activity

The headline on this article is fairly misleading. The headline"policy" is for the FPD officers, instructing them that generally citizens have the right to film or record. I guess headline shockers generate ad-click revenue.

At first glance, seems like a good policy.

New guidelines for filming police activity in Fairfax County

Quote:

The Fairfax County Police Department is clarifying what someone can and cannot do with a camera at or near a crime scene with a new policy.

In a policy titled FCPD General Order 603.1 the department said it issued June 1, anyone has the right to record police activity, whether that’s a passerby or someone directly interacting with police.

Officers will not be allowed to tell that observer that they can’t film a crime scene nor otherwise obstruct that filming.

However, according to the Fairfax County Police Department news website, filming cannot interfere with officers doing their job, jeopardize anyone’s safety, violate the law or “incite others to violate the law.”

Not this guy's best day (and again!) arrested for zero lawful reason

http://ift.tt/2aEV1Ra

In Ramirez's case, the arraignment never came, however. Instead, he was told charges wouldn’t be filed against him and he would be released the following day. He was escorted through the jail gates at about 5 a.m., but was then immediately re-arrested by a Palm Springs police officer who was waiting outside the facility. The officer then took Ramirez back into the jail where he was re-booked and taken back to a jail cell.

English Churches Susceptable To Terrorist Attack. Internet Goes Nuts Over This.

One should not be surprised about this. Oh England, where we get our common law from, it is a simple solution: Churches in small towns I suppose would be suspect more so than larger cathedrals in larger cities which I suppose would get security by the city admin. The solution is to re introduce your rights to protect and defend yourself. parishioners should then arm themselves and protect each other. It is not really shocking.

CPRC - 2015 saw the largest increase ever in the number of gun carry permits

http://ift.tt/2awebsD

SNIP

During President Obama’s administration, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared to over 14.5 million – a 215% increase since 2007. Among the findings of our report:
■ The increase in the number of concealed handgun permits last year set another record, increasing by 1.73 million. That is slightly greater than previous record of 1.69 million set the last year.
■ 6.06% of the total adult population has a permit.
■ In ten states, more than 10% of adults have concealed handgun permits. Indiana has the highest rate — 15%. South Dakota is close behind with 14.7%.
■ Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas each have over a million residents who are active permit holders.
■ In another 11 states, a permit is no longer required to carry in all or virtually all of the state. Thus the growth in permits does not provide a full picture of the overall increase in concealed carry.
■ Between 2012 and 2016, in states that provide data by gender, the number of women with permits has increased twice as quickly as the number of men with permits.

Something to consider when renewing your CCL

My concealed carry license was set to expire in November and a little over a week ago I received a letter from the DOJ reminding me to renew with some directions on how to renew the license online.

So within a day or two I went on line and jumped through the hoops and paid my $22 to ply my rights for another five years.

Six days later my new plastic permission slip arrives and I notice it now expires on July 22nd 2021.

For being on the ball and renewing right away I lost 4 months of my time to exercise my rights which I had already paid for. WTF?

Had I known that I would have waited till October or November to renew.

Does RCW9.41.300 require lockboxes for ANY public building that restricts possession?

jeudi 28 juillet 2016

Here we go again...

The Spokane Public Facilities District intends to vigorously enforce their 'no weapons' policy starting this fall.

A comment was made that the 'PFD' will have to provide a lockbox, per RCW 9.41.300(b) for those wishing to possess a concealed pistol to / from their vehicle.

I am not sure I read it that way.

The relevant parts are:

Weapons prohibited in certain places—Local laws and ordinances—Exceptions—Penalty.

(1) It is unlawful for any person to enter the following places when he or she knowingly possesses or knowingly has under his or her control a weapon:

(b) Those areas in any building which are used in connection with court proceedings, including courtrooms, jury rooms, judge's chambers, offices and areas used to conduct court business, waiting areas, and corridors adjacent to areas used in connection with court proceedings. The restricted areas do not include common areas of ingress and egress to the building that is used in connection with court proceedings, when it is possible to protect court areas without restricting ingress and egress to the building. The restricted areas shall be the minimum necessary to fulfill the objective of this subsection (1)(b).

For purposes of this subsection (1)(b), "weapon" means any firearm, explosive as defined in RCW 70.74.010, or any weapon of the kind usually known as slung shot, sand club, or metal knuckles, or any knife, dagger, dirk, or other similar weapon that is capable of causing death or bodily injury and is commonly used with the intent to cause death or bodily injury.

In addition, the local legislative authority shall provide either a stationary locked box sufficient in size for pistols and key to a weapon owner for weapon storage, or shall designate an official to receive weapons for safekeeping, during the owner's visit to restricted areas of the building. The locked box or designated official shall be located within the same building used in connection with court proceedings. The local legislative authority shall be liable for any negligence causing damage to or loss of a weapon either placed in a locked box or left with an official during the owner's visit to restricted areas of the building. RCW 9.41.300 (b)

This section seems to deal only with areas related to court proceedings, not any public building in general.
There is no RCW, that I can find, that requires any other public building to provide lockboxes, regardless that the building has a 'policy' that prevents possession, even by those duly licensed.
Comments?

Another "study" replete with 33% more Liberal lies.

http://ift.tt/2ahcMDo

You know your supposed study is total BS when it's ripped by a professor from Trinity liberal arts college who received his PhD from George Mason U.

I would post a link to the study for all to read, but the only link I could find is one where you have to BUY a copy of the study for $32.00 plus tax. Really?

However, the National Library of Medicine at the National Institute of Health has a VERY short description. It describes the methodology used: "Negative binomial regression is used to test the effects of homicide rates, suicide rates, firearm ownership rates, and several control variables on public mass shooters per country from 1966 to 2012." Now, I admit to not knowing what "negative binomial regression" is, and after reading up on it, my head hurts. It's apparently a set of math equations that are used in probability and statistics.

Beyond that, Lankfords data gathering methods are in question because he "refuses to share the data and details he used to support his findings, or submit it to standard peer review." Incredibly suspect in my opinion. If you have nothing to hide, why not share it and be proven right? Well, it apparently was shared with "anonymous independent researchers" that approved the work, according to Violence and Victims Editor-in-Chief Roland Maiuro. V and V itself is a "peer-reviewed academic journal covering theory, research, policy, and clinical practice in the area of interpersonal violence and victimization" according to Wiki, which is the only actual description I could find about it. The V and V homepage is a subscription page on the Springer Publishing website, and a personal subscription will cost you $179.

Sound familiar? Well, to anyone who's seen the Outlaw Josey Wales, it should.

Doughnut glaze mistaken for meth prompts arrested Orlando LAC to weigh lawsuit

Mr. Rushing, 64, was exiting the parking lot of an Orlando convenience store on the afternoon of Dec. 11 when he was pulled over for failing to make a complete stop and driving over the speed limit, according to arrest documents obtained by the newspaper.
Cpl. Shelby Riggs-Hopkins asked Mr. Rushing to exit the vehicle after learning he was carrying a licensed and concealed firearm, removed the weapon and then questioned him about “a rock like substance on the floor board where his feet were,” the documents read. “I recognized, through my eleven years of training and experience as a law enforcement officer, the substance to be some sort of narcotic,” she wrote.

First gun registration, now confiscation - amazing how the anti-gun march continues.

So, I-1491 is going to be on the ballot now, and the anti-gun and just plain lemming voters will pass it into law in November. So that will allow a single judge to be able to order the state to confiscate a person's guns. But how is the state going to know what guns a person has? Oh, wait.....let's just ask the Department of Licensing to provide us with a list of guns that John Smith has purchased when complying with I-594. But I-594 was not registration, remember that? It's going to be interesting to see how much I-594 enables confiscation under I-1491. Of course we will never hear about that relationship unless we dig really, really deep and force the state to admit that relationship when a gun confiscation occurs.

voice recorder for open carry?

mercredi 27 juillet 2016

I was wondering if anyone uses a voice recorder when they are open carrying and if so what recorder are you using and do you have it in your pocket a lanyard or if you use a wired microphone. I been looking at them and there are so many to choose from and I don't know how they work if they are in your pocket. I had someone tell me to used it with a lanyard but by looking at them they don't say if they have a lanyard mount or not. I would appreciate and help and information about what you use.

Local OC education with your local, media personalities, is it wise?

I keep hearing incorrect information about guns, and carriers there of, from media personalities. Mostly radio show hosts because I don't watch TV news.

So, would having local gatherings where we invite our local media personalities to join us for meeting and education, be a good idea?

I almost posted this for my local state, then I realized that this would apply all over.

How should/would we go about this?
Would anyone be interested in doing this in their locale?
What are some unintended negative consequences of doing this?

Part of this is because a radio show host made us carriers sound like we were mentally unstable/aggressive/dangerous a-holes. This comment stemmed from the guy who was CC in Kentucky and got into an argument at a theater over a brat kicking the back of his seat. He drew his gun and made an A of himself.

Wonder if there's a way to OC, but hidden in plain sight?

I was just thinking about how to essentially OC, but camoflage it.

Make a very thin rubber housing that fits over top of the gun. It's flexible so doesn't inhibit draw stroke or operation. It fits over the visible portion of the handgun. You carry outside all garments but IWB holster.

Make the rubber housing resemble an iPhone top or something.

Would also be useful when told to 'cover it up' You pull it out and put it over the gun and you're out of sight for all intents and porpoises.

Don't see a downside. Might be a way to get used to OC gradually. Not having to sweep a cover garment out of the way has a lot of benefits!

USA Today - Woopsies, open carry didn't disrupt Republican convention

Heavily armed law-abiding citizens not the threat that local police, national opinionators feared.

Last week’s Republican convention proved that the Second Amendment works. A major push to limit gun rights failed, and citizens carried arms openly in Cleveland outside the convention — including at protests — with no problems.

Americans weren’t allowed to enjoy their constitutional rights without a fight, however. Before the convention, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams lobbied to suspend open-carry rights downtown, saying, “The fewer guns, the better.” This appeal was despite the Buckeye State being one of 45 states where open-carry of firearms is guaranteed by law.

. . .

It’s a gun advocate cliché that an armed society is a polite society. Cleveland showed that an armed convention can also be a safe one.

Dear fellows,

sorry, I know this was discussed numerous times. I'm living in CA and I'm going to OR to spend some time in state and national parks, plus some wilderness. I know these areas are mostly trees and occasionally bears, so I want to carry my .45 handgun. I have no license (though I'm legally owning my guns) and I do not even have a green card yet (though I'm a legal alien). In CA carrying is generally prohibited to me (as well as to the most of citizens), so I'm new to it here is US, but I definitely feel I'd better have something better than a knife and fork if I meet a bear. After reading through many posts here I got an impression I can legally carry my handgun open and loaded when in a forest. I realize I will have to leave my gun behind if I go to a bar, visitor center, or basically any building intended for a human being. I will also keep it in the trunk in a city, OR has a good beer anyways. But do I get it right, besides these considerations, if the gun (or its part) is visible on my body, I'm outside of a city or village, any public school, courthouse, my own car, or a dumpster for that matter, I can legally carry it in the OWB holster and loaded? Even in Multnomah county?

So my way of operation supposed to be: when in the forest, look for any sign posted about illegal firearms, if not put the holster on and take the gun out of the trunk. If I'm about to enter a dwelling, give the gun away to my wife to wait me outside, do my "business", put the gun back to my body and go away to be safe and legal?

Sorry for being dumb again, but this free country scares me to death with all that harsh felony and misdemeanor threats, yet, I fear bear more than a cop.

P.S. I know neither of you dear fellows are lawyers and neither have any responsibility, legal or other. I also I know I had to ask my personal attorney for a responsible answer :) Does not that apply for any forum for that matter, or basically anything I'm not paying for?

Contempt of Court-- Wearing a pin.

lundi 25 juillet 2016

Hi Folks

I read an article in the Washington Post about a criminal defense attorney getting cited by the judge for " Contempt of Court..

The reason for the contempt charge was that the attorney was wearing a BLM(black lives matter pin) in the court room and the judge asked her twice to remove said pin... She refused and was handcuffed and charged with contempt and received 5 days in the slammer..

Now my question to you folks and hopefully some barristers will join the discussion..

If you were wearing a " I support the 2nd Amendment pin" to court, either as a juror or litigant and you were asked to remove said pin, would you acquiesce or would you claim your 1st Amendment right to free speech?

Prefiled bill for the 2017 session of the General Assembly.

State Representative Kevin Bratcher has filed a bill which would tell the federal government where to stick unconstitutional mandates against state governments which exceed federal authority. The bill, filed as a joint resolution, could be an effective election issue for Republicans seeking a majority in the state House of Representatives. This bill is different than other similar bills that were introduced, but never voted on, in previous years. This one actually is well written, make some sense and could be workable. The Presidential election will be long over when the General Assembly meets in January, but this bill could be used until then to let people know what could happen with Republicans in control of both the General Assembly and the White House.

The Qualified Immunity Doctrine...

Hi Folks

While this subject is not OC related, the topic has been referenced here in many threads..

The Qualified Immunity doctrine protects government officials from liability for civil damages' insofar as their conduct does not violate clearly established statutory or constitutional rights of which a reasonable person would have known"
see Harlow v Fitzgerald 457 U.S. 800,818 (1982)...

What this doctrine means is that if your statutory/civil rights or constitutional rights are not clearly violated then you have no redress, however if your rights are clearly violated then QI gets tossed out the court room window..

QI does not trump civil or constitutional rights.. If you feel that your rights have been violated, seek out a competent attorney well versed in constitutional law.. Said attorney will be familiar with USC title 18 - 241 and 242. There is also civil redress under USC title 42 section 1983 and possibly 1981 and 1985...

Unlawful actions by government agents have repercussions.. Under the 1983 section, you can also bring suit against the individual actor..
QI only protects those that are innocent of the violations...

My .02

Best regards
CCJ

Clothing options for summer (concealed carry)

dimanche 24 juillet 2016

Hey all, I'm fairly new to concealed carry.. maybe going on a year total. I've found that I really like tucking shirts into my holsters for added concealability. Using a thin undershirt and than a regular tshirt on top. The problem with summer time, is... i'm getting too dang hot lol.

I'm wondering what you guys do? Just run a longer tshirt, or maybe there are undershirts designed to keep you cool in the summer?

(ah crap, just noticed this is an 'open carry' forum LOL. my bad.)

Perhaps, a new approach....

I find this to be a terrific training video with respect to who should receive a shot to the heart or two shots to the head, at any given time.

It kept me guessing. I'd have pulled the trigger five times, so STOP pointing weapons at innocent civilian's, people. You WILL get yourselves killed.

Everyone armed, and everyone holstered is the ONLY way to solve this crisis.

As for a "new approach," if you expected a 'kindler, gentler' way of dealing with incredibly law-violating behavior, then you're just stupid.

Reality is, and if you're not towing the line, then you're on the down and out.

Life is, people. It is what it is.

AP gun policy poll contradicted by PEW polling

The 23 July 2016 MSN article reporting on the July 2016 Associated Press gun rights poll (see article at http://ift.tt/2aih69F) - executed amidst the emotional shock of the Orlando nightclub murders by a madman claiming ISIS terrorist ties -

includes so many flawed and bizarre survey questions that it should not be cited except to point out how NOT to do a public policy poll; e.g., should "gun manufacturers or sellers be liable if guns are later used in a crime" - come on, per se liability for wholly 3d party actions after purchasing lawful items is not attachable under American jurisprudence.

Similarly, the question "do restrictions on gun rights infringe upon the Second Amendment is silly" - the answer can only be 100% yes, as any restriction is of course, an infringement - a correct question along these lines would have to be specific and related to a constitutional standard; e.g., does the restriction infringe upon the constitutional right for "the

individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation," see [/b][/I]District of Columbia v. Heller[\I][\b] (2018).

Moreover, this AP poll flies in the face of decades of gun rights polling by the highly respected non-partisan PEW Research Organization, which has been tracking Americans' opinions on gun rights and other matters since the early twentieth century.

See PEW report at http://ift.tt/2ajXYtD reporting that new PEW polling revealed that, [/i]inter alia[\i]:

"While 52 percent of Americans polled by the Pew Research Center said it's important to protect the right to own guns, 46 percent of respondents prioritized more control of gun ownership, Breitbart reported. Since the question was asked in 1993, this is the first time that a majority has held a position of defending gun rights instead of "[controlling] gun ownership,"

"For the first time in more than 20 years, a poll has indicated that a majority of Americans are more concerned with protecting gun rights than passing more gun control, a finding that also reveals "a substantial shift in attitudes since shortly after the Newtown school shootings."

And,

"The biggest shift has come in the black community, with 54 percent believing guns enhance personal safety."

"Additionally, a new and even larger majority of 57 percent respondents said gun ownership does more to protect personal safety against crime than endanger it, up from 48 percent in 2012, according to the Huffington Post. This also explains the recent increase in gun sales."

"Meanwhile,

“while Hispanics were the most pro-gun control demographic by a nearly 3-to-1 margin in the poll, conservative Republicans were the most pro-gun rights demographic by a margin of more than 4-to-1.”

In any event, the long term polling trend of increasing support for gun rights over time reported by the PEW Research Organization are likely to remain positive, despite the well known "survey bias" effect that tends to cause people to shy away from completely truthful answers on controversial questions, e.g., "do you agree that people should be able to carry guns in public?," "do you support abortion on demand," "do you believe in God," etc.

Clinton on Guns vs Trump on Guns - An Objective Delineation

I'm not sure how "objective" this might appear to others, but it appears to be reasonably valid, matching with a great many other articles I've read, along with comments on both their presidential candidacy websites. Follow the links for details, but I've copied the key points from the articles, below, with my comments in parentheses:

Clinton on Guns:

  • adamantly for stronger gun control
  • adamantly for better gun-violence prevention
  • promised to expand background checks
  • promised to close loopholes that allow domestic abusers and the mentally ill to buy firearms
  • promised to hold dealers and manufacturers accountable for gun deaths
  • supports banning individuals on the no-fly list from being permitted to buy guns
  • believes the majority of both Americans and gun owners (if there's a difference, that's a problem) support universal background checks
  • voted against legislation protecting weapons manufacturers and deals from lawsuits over deaths associated with their products
  • voted in support of banning assault weapons for sale to the general public
  • called for the reinstatement of the assault weapons ban immediately after the Orlando shooting
  • endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety
  • endorsed by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America
  • endorsed by endorsed by multiple lawmakers in favor of gun control, including Reps. Carolyn Maloney, D-NY, and Jim Himes, D-CT, Sen. Ed Markey, D-MA, and Gabrielle Giffordd
  • praised by Giffords for having "the determination and toughness to stand up to the corporate gun lobby -- and the record to prove it"
  • criticized by the NRA who accuses her of trying to take away the right to own a firearm under the Second Amendment
  • criticized by Chris Cox (NRA Executive Director): "a Clinton-influenced Supreme Court would “[mean] your right to own a firearm is gone.”

Summary Statement: "If she is elected and able to carry out all her promises, Clinton’s stances would likely make it harder for everyone, including criminals, to get their hands on firearms without undergoing a background check. However, the expanded background checks don't address other holes in the system or a lack of complete records."

Trump on Guns:

  • strongly in favor of the Second Amendment and people's rights to have pretty much whatever guns they chose
  • advocates banning types of guns or magazine sizes, calling such bans "a total failure"
  • supports expanding gun permits to a national system, in which a permit to carry issued in one state would be valid throughout the country (as is our current drivers license system)
  • against expanding background checks
  • advocates fixing the current system he calls "broken" for its incomplete records and databases
  • advocates doing away with gun-free spaces (zones) such as those around schools, calling them "targets for the sickos"
  • advocates for better mental health treatment to catch mass shooters before they commit a crime
  • suggested America would be better to focus on "radical Islamic terrorism" as a deterrent to mass attacks as opposed to restricting gun ownership
  • puts his money where his mouth is
  • has a permit to carry a concealed weapon
  • sometimes takes his gun with him around New York City
  • has never held public office
  • as a business owner, seems to straddle the fence (a number of his resorts do not allow guns on their premises, with or without a permit)
  • according to Reuters, Trump said that he would be changing that policy
  • endorsed by the NRA; Chris Cox said, "Now is the time to unite. If your preferred candidate got out of the race, it's time to get over it,"
  • was previously and heavily criticized by NRA members for his support of an assault weapons ban in his 2000 book, "The America We Deserve" (appears to have changed his mind)
  • heavily criticized by the NRA for insinuating that the Orlando, FL shooting could have been stopped by someone with a gun at the club (What the hell? Why in the world would the NRA do that???)
  • Chris Cox stated that "drinking at a nightclub with a firearm 'defies common sense.' " (Cox fails to address the issue of armed bouncers and armed non-drinkers)

Summary Statement: "If Trump is elected and able to enact all of his policy proposals, the current restrictions on guns could be both tightened and loosened. If he was able to reform the system of background checks to fill the gaps in its records, it would be harder for those with criminal records to buy guns in stores. But it would remain easy to legally buy firearms in private sales. At the same time, it would become a lot easier to be a gun owner, once you have one — a licensed gun owner would be able to legally carry his or her gun more or less anywhere."

Va. Supreme Court overturns Terry McAuliffe’s action on felon voting rights

In a move with huge implications for the presidential election, the Virginia Supreme Court late Friday ruled against Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s effort to restore the voting rights of more than 200,000 convicted felons.
In a 4-3 decision, the Court said it “respectfully disagrees” with Mr. McAuliffe’s position that he has the executive power to make such a sweeping move. The governor is a longtime ally of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who views Virginia as crucial to her election.
[ ... ]
The ruling said Mr. McAuliffe lacked the power to issue a clemency order “to a class of unnamed felons without regard for the nature of the crimes or any other individual circumstances relevant to the request.”
Justice Lemons cited Virginia’s tradition of “cautious and incremental approach to any expansions of the executive power,” writing that the framers in 1776 were skeptical of “the unfettered exercise of executive power.”

LEO - public relationship must change

We see BLM (if there is such an organization) fringe members shooting police because of perceived (real or not) injustices.

So what if this continues....injustice is seen to occur, citizen(s) shoot LEOs. Well, here's the choices:

1) something will change

2) nothing will change

If 1)
then possibilities include (maybe not exclusive to):

a) .govs will start to hide records, "clamp down", begin violating our rights in an effort to protect .govs, etc.

b) no changes to law but police will treat people nicer

c) changes to the law will be performed
I would like to see qualified immunity watered down (to almost nothing). Civil matters? They should get no relief from the public at
all.
Many LEO organizations loves to tell us gun owners to get insurance-
make them get insurance to cover their unlawful actions instead of the endless well of the people's pocketbook.

If 2) I foresee many cops (some who have done their jobs honorably) being shot due to their co-worker's perceived unlawfulness.

Truly universal background checks

For months, there have been calls for new laws to make the Terrorism Watch List and No-Fly List disqualifying for a firearms purchase. Of course, criminals and terrorists don’t always use guns. If we want to keep the world safe for The Children, we need to be more ambitious. So why aren't Bloomberg and his useful idiots demanding "common-sense restrictions" and “universal background checks” for….

Knives
Of course, knives. That's a no-brainer.

Delivery trucks
French investigators explore possible terror links in Nice attack that killed 84
(and let's not forget Timothy McVeigh!)

Walmart (like, the entire store)

Lumber
Psychiatrist killed by 2x4

and, well, pretty much everything

electric guitar
Xbox: "In April 2013, the body of a 20-year-old woman was found next to an Xbox 360 that was badly broken and bloodied. It was later determined that the woman’s boyfriend had used the console to beat her."

Clearly, we need to make sure that the "wrong" people don't get their hands on these horrible weapons! And why isn't Hilary demanding that the manufacturers be sued out of business? Because they obviously knew their products would be used in this way, didn't they? String 'em up! Besides, it should be easy to restrict all these things, because there's no constitutional amendment protecting them! What are we waiting for?

Gee, this banning is fun! Everybody should get in on it--surely I'm forgetting some instruments of death. What else should we require a background check for? (link to an example, or it doesn't count)

Question about Luke AFB Recreation area at Fort Tuthill camping

Some friends of ours are planning a camping trip and are eligible to camp at the Fort Tuthill campgrounds, which are only eligible to military personnel. The directions on the website say to follow signs to the Luke AFB recreation area to get to the campground. My question in this case is:

It's a recreation area for Luke AFB, but is not actually on the base or anywhere even nearby (near Flagstaff) -- what would be the legality of carrying while camping here? I have a CCW permit that is valid in AZ as well but don't even want to Concealed Carry or Open Carry without knowing about this, since it is loosely attached to the military. I usually carry when camping/hiking in National Parks/etc. but since I'm not military, I'm not sure how this breaks down. Can anybody clarify?

Prescott Man Acosted In Bar By Another man Who Said He Is A CCLer

I don't know if the CCLer was carrying in the bar or not. The No Name Bar has sign stating no weapons allowed including knives, billy club etc... It seems to me that the CCLer's words were a veiled threat bec he got the impression that the person he warned was after his wife. I suppose it could be true.. bar... alcohol makes people say stupid things and do stupid things. However the bouncer removed the guy who has written the letter not the CCLer.

On Saturday, I went to No Name bar. I met an older woman and her husband and we had a minimal, cordial interaction.

We met again and were teasing. There was no use of curse words or calling names. The conversation went to “That bouncer is on my side.” The guy said he’d been coming there for 10 years and knows all the bouncers, they were all on his side to which I said, well, then your wife was on my side, thinking it was jokes and teasing.

Apparently I went too far. I realized it when he said he carries a licensed firearm. Although I had done nothing wrong, I told the guy I didn’t want to die and apologized for offending him. A bouncer told us to go separate ways. As soon as I re-entered the bar to use the bathroom (I was planning to go somewhere else), the guy saw me, grabbed me and started choking me by shirt without saying a word. I’m so shocked; I literally froze, didn’t even raise a finger to defend myself.

The bouncers see me getting choked, rushes over, banging me on the floor. I was unconscious for a few seconds. I was banged so bad, I got confused and kept saying “what did I do?” I was thrown out by a racist bouncer who’s full of so much hate. Nothing happened to the guy who attacked me.

Only three people, all women, came to my rescue. The assumption was I deserved it. What? Why don’t they just say blacks are not allowed there? I filed charges on the bouncer and the guy who tried to choke me. The racist guy who attacked me let his alcohol reveal his racism, talking about carrying a concealed weapon. I have witnesses to collaborate everything.

The bar says I was attacking or intended on attacking the wife and that I deserved it. I have nonstop headaches, broken front tooth and busted lower lip. I would like the NO NAME BAR TO release the video on its Facebook page for the public to see what I had done wrong.

They should write on the door whites and bikers only. I have never been arrested; the first time I visited the police was to report this incident. Never involved with any kind of fights despite being black. I don’t have speeding tickets, and for a bunch of racist people to assume that I was going to attack a woman even though I had no drinks or was drunk justifies them to be called a racist bar.

More education system seeking out terrorists -- ? becomes 4th/5th amend issue then?

http://ift.tt/29Rpj0J

I would think that if they would use kids assignments to determine if they were terrorists then it would make such things subject to the provisions and limitation of the 4th & 5th amendments.

So can a student refuse to turn in an assignment due to 4th and 5th amendment concerns?

Maybe, I see an argument now to support such a viewpoint.

Anyone know this gun instructor in St. Louis ?

http://ift.tt/29UoWIo

My opposition to the permitless carry and to Senate Bill 656, which includes the proposal, is not a matter of being pro-gun or anti-gun. It is about being pro-responsibility. The permitless carry provision would allow people to legally carry hidden, loaded handguns, in public, without a permit, safety training, or knowing the use-of-force laws. Gov. Jay Nixon has recently vetoed this bill, but now some of our state legislators are trying to override his veto.

Of course if permitless carry passes, he's out of a job (or he likely thinks so) ?

he wants everyone to go to law school to be able to carry .... dweeb.

Moving to Las Vegas next month

I will be moving to Las Vegas and I would like to know if I need to have a NV carry license to open carry or not thank you. I have a PA LTCF license and I believe that it will work till I get my NV license since the 2 states are reciprocal.

Waterbury PD chief: 'Let's cooperate', talks about avoiding dangerous interactions

If an officer stops your car, if they ask to search your person or vehicle, if they demand entry into your home, comply and then complain later to the department's internal affairs office and police chief's office if you feel your rights have been violated, Riddick said.

To refuse a search is a right, not a provocation

"To verbally refuse a search is an exercise of one's rights. It isn't a provocation. That ... police officials see it as the latter is telling -- and a problem."

Wonder why OR Gov. Brown not being impeached for control antics

quote: Oregon Gov. Kate Brown unveiled a big gun control package last week that included direction of the state police to track and analyze gun transactions, ( ...the Oregon State Police will be directed to retain firearms transactions data – now required for even private sales – for five years, establishing a defacto if temporary firearms registry.) while urging Congress to ban assault weapons and enact no fly/no buy legislation.

Brown, the former secretary of state, came to office without taking part in the traditional electoral process, succeeding Gov. John Kitzhaber upon his resignation following a corruption scandal last February. Since in the Governor’s seat she has been a very strong supporter of gun control, embracing a controversial Bloomberg-backed bill to expand background checks to virtually all gun transfers that she signed into law last year.

However, she announced last week she is just getting warmed up. unquote

ARS’ pollsters found that millennials' views on guns track more with the party ID than their age, and other studies have found that younger voters are especially open to gun rights, seeing them in the same vein of personal liberty as gay rights.

Butler Co. sheriff urges civilian staff to carry weapons at work

One southwest Ohio sheriff is encouraging staffers with licenses to carry to bring their weapons to work.

In a memo sent to employees last week, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones urged civilian employees and volunteers to carry their weapons at the sheriff's office and while operating any department vehicle away from headquarters.
[ ... ]
In the memo, Jones urged employees to plan their attire appropriately and carry their weapons discreetly when in public view.

The sheriff also reminded staffers to adhere to state guidelines for carrying concealed weapons when off department premises.

So a police station is not a prohibited location?

John Pierce; Don't give up rights just to make it easier to police large events.

Open-carry advocates say that criminals almost never openly carry firearms. And if law-abiding citizens fail to demonstrate their right to carry guns, they risk losing it, they add.

“We’re sympathetic to law enforcement being concerned about their safety, but that doesn’t mean we give up citizens’ rights just to make it easier to police large events,” said John Pierce, co-founder of national advocacy group OpenCarry.org.
[ ... ]
Police in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have been trying and failing to restrict the open carrying of guns for years. The state attorney general argues that citizens have a constitutional right to publicly display weapons, which cannot be overruled by city authorities.

“I wish more of our legislators could see past the ideology,” said Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn. “They have no concern about the impact in urban environments that are already plagued by too many guns and too much violence."

Flynn attracted gun owners’ ire when he told his officers in 2009 to detain open carriers despite the attorney general’s ruling. Flynn said his department has since “adapted” to the state law.

Carjackings/home invasions soar across Melbourne

Latest crime figures say that carjackings have increased by 80% in the past year. Big increases have been seen in home invasions or 'aggravated burglaries' too.

An example from earlier today. What a tragedy they couldn't defend themselves properly.

13 teens arrested after carjacking

Quote:

A 12-year-old girl has told of a shocking Apex Gang attack on Monday night in which she was pulled out of her family’s luxury car at St Albans and told she would be killed.

The gang of thieves pounced on the family while they were in their vehicle.

The 12-year-old said she was two terrified to be identified.

“First thing they opened was the boot so we can’t lock the door,” she said.

“They went to my dad’s car… door… theu pened the door and threatened to kill everyone.

“So, like: “We’re going to kill you if you don’t get out, give us your keys, give us everything”.

http://ift.tt/2a7qHBK
The above follows a string of similar carjackings in recent weeks where the drivers were attacked with hammers and baseball bats.

Other home invasions in the following suburbs in Melbourne across the past week. I believe in all cases the offenders were armed with some sort of weapon. As with the carjackings, the residents were assaulted in the majority of the cases.

Berwick
Pakenham
Caroline Springs (4th in the neighbourhood within 2 weeks)
Point Cook
Essendon North
Glenroy
Taylors Lakes
Deer Park (resident was shot multiple times but managed to stab one of the intruders)
Narre Warren
Airport West
Williams Landing

And earlier in the week two men were arrested after a siege at a motel over four armed robberies (involving firearms). A few days before a man was arrested and charged over a following 14 gunpoint robberies in the south-eastern suburbs.

Hello,
I have had my Kimber compact ultra ll for several years.I just always bought the 7 rd mags. Well so I decided that I want a 10 round mag. But those seem hard to find. It seems that you can only buy them from Kimber. Why is that? Or is there another MFG out there that makes them with extended grips? Thanks

United We Stand, Divided We Fall - Kentucky State Motto.

Gun owners are some of the best people I know. And forum members here are some of the best of those that I have met. I intend to do a lot of activism in promoting Kentucky gun rights in the Louisville area (and possibly Lexington/Frankfort areas). Anyone who wants to and is able to be actively supporting of the 2A for Kentucky, message me. I want use to be out in a good group to show gun owners are normal folks, to combat the efforts of the misguided members of anti-gun groups and the lies they tell people. We live in troubling times, and we should stand together, united. Several of you have answered the call to show up for events like in Frankfort for HB221, and I thank you. We are to disorganized, to afraid of being on camera, or to be put on some "list". Don't be, and I get that we have jobs, families, etc. But if enough of us are together in this (please spread the word to your friends who may not be on forums), then eventually we'll be large enough to have people cover most events. I can't believe that the millions of pro-gun folks in KY would let our rights be destroyed, but I can believe that very few of them know what to do to stop the progression of evil anti-gun folks. The forum is monitored by folks on the Bloomberg/Soros/Clinton paycheck (you know, the heart-string pulling, orange-shirt wearing, bus people into events group), so message me, or I can email you from a secure email account. I'm flexible, and willing to go to great lengths to help unify the most amazing group of Americans in Kentucky.

P.S Indiana folks near Louisville feel free to help as well.

Can I Carry A Gun without a CCW Permit?

Almost all states require one, but there are some states where a CCW Permit is not required. A number of states have opted to do away with mandatory permits for carrying a concealed firearm entirely. Likewise, there are some states where a permit is technically only required in certain areas. Continue reading at: http://ift.tt/2a5Sanp

Cheaspeake considering outdoor shooting restrictions

as noted in a recent VA-Alert, Chesapeake is holding a hearing to "discuss" new restriction on where a person can lawfully shoot within the city boundaries. The meeting is scheduled for 6PM at:

Chesapeake Sheriff's Administration Building
Training Room
401 Albermarle Drive (Corner of Holt Drive and Albermarle Drive)
Chesapeake, Va.

You MUST SIGN UP TO ATTEND.

via: Karen Green with the Ches Police at 757-382-6404 or via email kgreen@cityofchesapeake.net

I am signed up to go, and received this information back from Karen Green:

Please see the below information from Chief Kelvin Wright:

Thank you for your email. I want you to know that there is misinformation going
about and please feel free to share this email with others.

The meeting which is taking place on July 20th, is not on a proposed ordinance.
We are having the meeting to hear and discuss the concerns of farmers, hunters,
and target shooters so that we can craft or adjust our existing ordinances so as
to promote the safety of our citizens. Clearly, Chesapeake is not as rural as
it was 20 years ago. Over the recent years, we have had numerous reports of
damaged property to farmers equipment, livestock and residents homes from
errant bullets. We have also had people injured. Our concern is the safety of
the people. To this end, we have asked members of the Farm Bureau, the
Agriculture Commission, and called everyone who spoke at City Council Meeting on
June 28th as well to attend this meeting. We have asked them to tell their
friends and anyone they think would be affected and be of help so they we can
hear their concerns.

The problems all of us face will not subside if we do nothing. In fact over
time, it will only worsen and more people will be in jeopardy of serious injury
or death. Therefore, I conclude that we have the responsibility to come
together and jointly discuss how best to proceed. I have already had a number
of stakeholders offer reasonable solutions that take into account others
concerns and the safety of the community. They also indicate that they will
attend the meeting.

Again, I welcome you to attend the meeting so that we can determine how best to
proceed. I believe that we can all work together and achieve a balanced
outcome.

Kind regards,
Chief Wright

My understanding is that given that the meeting is in the administration building and not the jail or courthouse, OC should be allowed. Does anyone know for sure one way or the other?

Thanks.

Republican National Convention 2016

Monday's Line-up. http://ift.tt/29HT4BH

Daily Themes & Headliners:
Monday: Make America Safe Again
Headliners: Melania Trump, Lieutenant General (ret.) Michael Flynn, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Jason Beardsley and U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke (Mont.).

From attacks on our own soil and overseas to the tragedy in Benghazi, the policies of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have left us vulnerable. Our immigration system is broken, leaving our country open to security threats and the negative consequences of illegal immigration. A Donald Trump administration will listen to and learn from our nation’s heroes who have put themselves in harm’s way and pursue a national security strategy and foreign policy that will strengthen our military and make America safe again.

Baton Rouge cops shot at after responding to MWAG call....

http://ift.tt/29GO7Jo

Three police officers are dead and three others injured from the shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which happened after officers responded to a 911 call of a man in all black walking around with a rifle, officials said.

Unfortunately we'll never know if he was just protecting himself or not.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said in a statement, "This is an unspeakable and unjustified attack on all of us at a time when we need unity and healing.

How does he know that? He wasn't there.

I inclined to give the ex-Marine the benefit of a doubt on this one until non-governmental created evidence is shown to prove otherwise.

Other things that the gov't say about him is irrelevant and straw arguments.

It appears he was a LAC until police showed up. This points to something that the police did to instigate the shooting beginning.

One Year Later, Most Military Members Still Can NOT CC or OC on Base

Still hasn't happened. Oh, they "opened it up" to certain specialties such as law enforcement, who already carry on base as a part of their duties.

What Congress doesn't realize is that bad guys go after soft targets, not hard targets. Why do you mass shootings like Hassan's (Ft. Hood) happen in places like hospitals, theaters, schools, and... Wait for it... Military recruiting stations?

ALL U.S. military personnel are TARGETS. Congress, you are NOT protecting our service members by DISARMING them. You are doing a GRAVE disservice by infringing on our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Our Second Amendment does NOT say "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, 'except while on federal property.' " It says, "...shall not be infringed," PERIOD.

Do not think for ONE SECOND, Congress, that We the People have forgotten about you during this 2016 election cycle. Because SO MUCH blood has been spilled as a direct result of idealistic idiots hamstringing our ability to defend ourselves, WE ARE WATCHING YOU. Most of you only pay lip service to our Second Amendment. That's OK, as WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE, and have lined up your Constitution-respecting replacements.

ALL United States Citizens has the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms EVERYWHERE. There are no Constitutional limits placed on our right to keep and bear arms. The ONLY Constitutional limit is placed against who would curb our right to keep and bear arms, and that limit specifically states, "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

Given current threats of domestic enemies/terrorists (New Black Panther and Black Lives Matter) and foreign enemies/terrorists (Al Quaeda, ISIS, Islamic extremists), there's absolutely ZERO excuse for un-Constitutionally disarming We the People.

Again, members of Congress: We know who you are, and we are taking action to replace everyone in Congress who refuses to FULLY enforce our Second Amendment's prohibition against ANY infringement on our right to keep and bear arms.

OC meetup in Alexandria -- it's been too long

Been talking with others, and it's way overdue.

So, let's plan an OC meetup in Alexandria at the Old Town Farmers Market, at Market Square (301 King Street for GPS), on 6 August at 0900.

There is a parking garage on the South side of Market Square. We can meet in Market Square by that parking garage, find coffee*, and wander the exhibits of the market.

*OK, maybe coffee is only my first priority.

Since it's been so long, and there will be people I don't know, it'd be nice if you'd comment here that you plan to attend so I know who to look for. Obviously, not a requirement.

Anyone else sees an issue with facts not admissible being able to support PC?

http://ift.tt/29EVbtR

The $2 roadside tests, which officers use to help establish probable cause for an arrest, cannot be used at trial as evidence under Texas law.

How can a test that not admissible be used to establish PC? That's crazy.

Currently, I am examining my state lab's criminal lab testing methods and validation studies and have found issues with every one I have completed an examination of....big enough issues to make the test results unreliable IMO.
