Is Open Carrying for the Young?

lundi 31 octobre 2016

Hi Folks

In keeping a journal of my open carry experiences the last three months, nothing out of the ordinary occurred however on the nine occasions that I open carried, six times in DE, three times in PA, I observed only seven other folks open carrying, while I feel that number to be low, that is not the issue.. The seven folks that I did observe were in my opinion probably between the ages of 30- 40 years of age, give or take a couple years.. So I started thinking, is open carry a method only used for young/younger folks and not for folks in my age bracket of which is 60 and older.. In previous years I never gave the age issue any thought but looking and thinking back, I don't recall seeing anyone that I would consider older than myself open carrying.. While my observations have been limited to only three months and two small areas of only two states, I was just wondering if my observations are the norm in other states where more folks are open carrying. Do you folks see older folks, say 55 and older open carrying?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and opinions!

Regards
CCJ

Alternative Right: MONTHLY ROUND-UP: OCTOBER 2016—WE WON IT FOR TRUMP!

by Chief Editor

As October ends, it looks like Donald Trump will now make it into the White House with relative ease. The elites, so it seems, have decided to drop the bomb on Hillary Clinton and do a deal with Trump instead, as predicted here by our own Richard Wolstencroft. A lot of other Alt-Right sites will be claiming that it was down to them or various forms of meme magick, etc., but we of course know the true story.

We also know that it is foolish to get too carried away by a Trump victory as the problems of the West remain deep rooted, and everything remains to be done to recreate a healthy and self-sustaining civilization. But there is no need to be too much of a killjoy: Trump’s looming victory (and Hillary’s likely forthcoming ‘holiday’ at the expense of the US taxpayer) will represent an enormous victory for the truth movement that is the Alt-Right.

Some Fla. residents plan armed trick-or-treating after creepy clown threats

Kimberly Kersey said she’d carry a gun while taking her sons trick-or-treating in Palm Bay. “I’ll be carrying for sure,” she said. “I’m terrified of clowns already and if one messes with me or my kids it’ll be to the hospital or morgue they go.”

Police typically increase patrols for Halloween. Some law enforcement officials have urged people to reconsider dressing up as clowns to avoid inadvertently endangering themselves. “The problem is that someone dressed like a clown could scare someone and there’s a possibility -- a possibility -- you could end up with someone getting shot,” said Palm Bay Police Lt. Mike Bandish.

Austrailian Liberal leadership reneging on deal allowing lever action shotguns!

http://ift.tt/2eYrcyJ

SNIP

Despite reports of a government compromise last year, Australia is once again embroiled in a heated political battle over the fate of a popular lever-action shotgun. In August 2015, it was reported that New South Wales Liberal Democratic Senator David Leyonhjelm had secured a deal with Australia’s Liberal Party-led government of Prime Minister Tony Abbot for the removal of a temporary ban on the importation of a seven-round version of the Adler Arms A-110 shotgun, in exchange for his support on unrelated legislation. In September 2015, Malcolm Turnbull defeated Abbott for the leadership of the Liberal Party, becoming the 29th prime minister of Australia. Last week, Leyonhjelm accused the current Liberal leadership of reneging on the deal by keeping the import ban in place.

. . .

Similar to their American counterparts, Australia’s anti-gun advocates push for ever-stricter gun controls absent any evidence to support their proposals. Here, Australians have been subjected to a government that has engaged in open internecine conflict, recriminations, and betrayals, all over an ineffectual ban on a model of shotgun that can’t be linked to a single crime in Australia’s most populous state. Let this episode serves as further evidence of the universal nature of anti-gun absurdity.

Black Man with a CWP: "I'm scared of being shot during a traffic stop"

A Richmond Public Square event:

Police shootings caused by poverty or acts of prejudice?
Quote:

Fellow panelist Osita Iroegbu, an educator and activist who grew up in Hillside Court in South Richmond, said police shootings are the symptom of widespread racial bias and she encouraged the audience to “step out of the comfort zone of white privilege.”

...

Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham, a panelist, said his officers have better relationships with the city’s residents than officers have in cities such as Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore — sites of high-profile police officer-involved deaths of African-Americans.

Still, it’s incumbent on everyone — officers and residents alike — to “act right,” Durham said.

Stewart Morris, an African-American audience member who lives in Richmond, said he worried about what would happen if he got pulled over by police officers and divulged having a concealed weapons permit.

He asked Durham if his officers are trained on what to do if they pull over a black man with a legally concealed weapon.

I don’t want to be shot, man,” Morris said.

Durham said from May 28 through Aug. 31, the police department confiscated 176 guns during a roundup of fugitives and firearms. About 24,000 people were contacted by the police during the roundup.

“Guess how many were shot. None,” Durham said.
Ironically, there's so such thing as a concealed weapons permit.

Imagine if he were openly carrying so all could see, including LEOs.

So, yeah, maybe he should be worried.

FBI probing new Clinton emails

FBI Director James Comey said in a Friday letter.

"In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton's personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony," Comey wrote.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation. I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation,"

There are no standard ways of measuring this demographic. They could be evangelicals, dispossessed working-class folk, or disenchanted fans of Sen. Bernard Sanders and third party candidates. They could be small business owners, doubting Democrats, active-duty military, veterans, bikers, patriots, law enforcement personnel, seniors who remember another America, or impoverished millennials. Second Amendment fans and pro-lifers are certainly part of the hidden vote. No one knows the precise demographics, though there will be insight in future exit polls.

A CALL TO ARMS
Senior conservative leaders this week urged their respective flocks to vote for Donald Trump rather than sit out the election in a disappointed funk. Now the Second Amendment folks have issued their warning, after 17 gun control groups endorsed Hillary Clinton earlier this week.
“Clinton has already been caught on audio stating that she thinks the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. Now she is basking in the warm glow of the gun grabbers. Her campaign is signaling to American gun owners that if she wins the White House, their rights are going to be trampled,” says Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, a nonprofit group based in Washington state with 650,000 members.
“The time for division within the ranks of firearms owners is past,” he continued. “Gun owners need to vote, not just in the presidential race, but also to determine majorities in the House and Senate.”

Polling Places

Wondering if polling locations here in NC are gun free or restricted in any way. Of course, if a polling place is a school or gov't building, it is already prohibited. But what about places that are private, like say a ruritan club, etc. If the location isn't posted, are there any laws prohibiting OC just because it is a polling location?

8 Days for CPL renewal

Now that the state is involved in the process it sure seems to have sped things up. It only took 8 days from the time I went into the county clerks office with my CPL renewal app to when the new permit arrived in the mail. My only complaint was the app said they required 2 passport photos but when I submitted my application the clerk said if I had a drivers license they just pull the photo off of the SOS database. LOL well I guess I now have 2 photos for my passport renewal. I hope everyone else has as good of a response time.

Incident from July 10 in Twin Cities

mercredi 26 octobre 2016

So now that I'm 100% positive it isn't going to result in further charges, I have a story to tell.

Black Lives Matter was camped out in front of Gov. Dayton's taxpayer funded mansion and had rioted the night before. A sniper had shot police in Dallas and tensions were pretty high. The police in that area are notorious for abusing the good people and the good people are all reformed law abiding citizens who were turning their lives around and you're a racist if you don't believe it.

I and a group of like minded people decided to mosey on down and see what was happening. True to form, the leadership of BLM was standing on milk crates with a megaphone saying "so some cops got shot. These things happen and are going to keep happening until no black person is shot by police for any reason ever."

Immediately upon spotting us, the leader who they called their queen began accusing us of being white supremacists, called us terrorists and accused us of having guns. They had no idea but were attempting to bump into us to feel for them. We got surrounded in a pathetic way by black panthers and they were obviously afraid of us (probably because we weren't afraid.). So true to form, the woman advocating and encouraging the murder of police officers ran to the popo to tattle. We decided we gathered all the info that was going to be forthcoming and walked a few blocks away to a conspicuously located adjacent looting alley and decided to hang out and probably go to Jimmy Johns. About 5 minutes later we were surrounded by about 20 cops, maybe more. Several of us were disarmed and handcuffed. While running our info and demanding we not record the incident, the Sergeant on duty arrived and began returning weapons to those of us disarmed. It is important to note that one of us was NOT disarmed and had 2 pistols on him and was actually in a very advantageous position. The Sergeant then thanked me for carrying and ordered all the officers to form a line and block the view of BLM, who had gathered on the opposite sidewalk, and returned all our weapons. Since he apparently was very in control of his officers and didn't care about my lack of reciprocity, I decided to open carry the rest of the night.

I have jpegs but can't get them to upload with this tablet PC...

'Yes, There Is a Coup On in America' American Thinker

There's a great LifeLock ad where four masked bank robbers burst through the door and yell for everyone to get down. A woman on the floor looks up at a bank guard. "Do something," she whispers.

"Oh, I'm not a security guard," the man says. "I'm a security monitor. I only notify people if there's a robbery." He looks over at the armed robbers in stocking masks, holding a hostage.

"There's a robbery."

Like the security monitor, Americans are passively observing a robbery, the theft of democracy. We're witnessing, in real time, an insurrection, a coup d'état.

The definition of coup d'état is change in government by illegal or forceful means. Like Hillary Clinton illegally seeking the office of president.

What is the average time to receive a CCL reewal?

mardi 25 octobre 2016

Yesterday (Monday 10/24/16) morning about 9am my son used our computer to go online and renew his CCL. Today at 1pm he called and said "guess what I just got in the mail!"

Is that generally the turn around for renewals, 1 day? I thought they had to re-do backgrounds and such. He originally got his renewal notification back in July. He waited because his didn't expire until late November. He'd probably of waited longer if he knew it was only going to take 1 day.

For those of you that re-newed what was your wait time?

NICS Announces Temporary Processing Change
FBI NICS has announced a temporary change in its processing procedure to be effective Wednesday, Oct. 26. The announcement follows:

You may recall, on Friday, October 21, 2016, notification was sent out by the FBI NICS Section regarding a temporary processing change for transactions initiated on Saturday, October 22, 2016. In summary, all transactions initiated through the FBI’s Contracted Call Centers that required an additional review based upon a match to one of the databases searched by the NICS were immediately placed into a delay status. The caller was transferred to a prerecorded message instead of being transferred to the FBI for further review.

In an effort to ascertain whether the revised processing will allow the FBI NICS Section to process transactions in a more efficient manner, the aforementioned temporary processing change will be implemented once again on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

Please be aware, transactions initiated via the NICS E-Check will continue to be processed as normal. We thank you for your patience and support during this process.

The five things Congressman Brat argued Congress could do are:

2. Pass Congressman Miller’s Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act
3. Pass Congressman Bishop’s Lawful Purpose and Self Defense Act
4. Block legislation superseding due process through government watch lists
5. Encourage the next President and Attorney General to faithfully execute the laws already on the books.

Some are so blind they cannot see the truth in Guns SAVE Lives. Bradford's is considering legal action against the good lady.......for what?....at this point she is not even guilty of trespass IMHO.

"In the past, the store's chief executive officer has been very vocal regarding his stance on gun violence and has deemed all 24 of the Bradford's stores as 'Gun Free Zones'. A representative from the store told reporters,
"We offer our most sincere condolences for the incident our customer and employees endured this evening. We are grateful for the assistance provided by Mrs. Harris, however, once the dust settles, we may be required to pursue legal action regarding her violation of Bradford's gun free zone policy. Tonight's tragedy has reinforced our stance on gun violence and we will continue to lobby for stricter gun control within our great nation."

Hey guys and gals,

It has been forever since I have read/posted anything on here. Law school is rough! Before studying for finals starts I wanted to post an update on what myself (and another member) have been up to for the past few weeks...er months...how long has it been since I was on here? Anyway a member and I talked and they suggested I write up something about my antics so as to show others that they can do exactly what I did (be a new guy into defending liberty and simply using public resources, free speech, and the law on my side to make the common sense arguments). 1450 words...I think I may need to break this post up into sections....

Back in the Spring I heard of a fellow student meeting with the Dean of students regarding self defense and protest options on campus. What came of that? We could have empty holsters, but nothing 3D looking like a gun. 2D pictures were ok, but nothing that could be considered as a "realistic replica". Because said student also brought up the prohibition on having "anything that may cause harm to another person" such as pepper spray or tasers, those were banned too? Nope, not according to the Dean, as long as they didn't look like guns. Only one taser model falls under that category, the Bolt.

So there were some issue in open carrying said Taser, which the Dean, as the final authority on the Student Code of Conduct, said is ok. Campus police kept harassing said student, dragging them out of class dozens of times. After about 4-6 meetings with the Dean, Deputy Chief, and Chief of Police for ULPD, they finally yielded (by conferring with their general council) that as carrying a gun with a valid license to conceal carry was not a crime on campus (and openly at all without any license), but merely a policy violation, police/security COULD respond (I made it clear that they didn't even have to per Supreme Court rulings on carrying a gun not making you a threat or as probable cause to stop you and that police had no duty to prevent crimes merely enforce laws) ULPD would at most stand outside any classroom they suspected had a gun in it and wait to hear signs of distress. No more patdowns, no more lectures, they would simply check for a CCW license and suggest any potential weapons on your person be removed from campus or placed in a vehicle. This happened without me even being aware students had already been patted down and such.

Also in March I had noticed a violation of preemption by the Office for the Blind. Their McDowell center is a rehabilitation center for those who are blind and need to learn how to live their lives with their disabilities. I did not see any "no guns" signs but in a small paragraph in their student guidebook it prohibited all weapons, including firearms, on their property. According to their own website and publications the Kentucky Office For the Blind is part of the Department of Workforce Investment, under the Education and Workforce Cabinet. The McDowell Center is a rehabilitation center, and does not fall under the "postsecondary" or "trade school" terminology. They did not want to listen to my phone calls so I emailed them all of this. Still little to no response. The director did respond to me and after saying they'd check with their Legal Counsel (I looked up who that was specifically and inferred that I was aware of who said lawyer was by name and former law firm - gotta love public info and flow charts published by KY gov). A bout a month later the issue was resolved to my satisfaction.

At law school I have been as vocal as ever! I wear my empty holster and all the gun owners are like "you fool!" Oddly enough I can't find anyone who is actually anti-gun completely. At least half are gun owners. I even have hard-core Hilary fans who own AR15s and want 1000yd capable rifles. Go figure. I have been told my passion makes approaching me undesirable as the anti-gun crowd won't even bother. The pro-gun folks are chatting every now and then on new gun purchases, range visits, etc. I made no secret of my work with gun rights in my application process and neither UK nor UofL turned me down...so...

Last week there was a Malcolm X debate series talk on gun control. I had no idea who Malcom-X was, but the atmosphere was an auditorium with a couple dozen black kids, a few white kids sitting in the back, and a biased moderator letting two first year students give short speeches on the pro/cons of gun control. Questions by/for the audience were allowed for the remainder of the 1-2hr even and I made sure to speak up a few times. At the start the cards were stacked against me but half way through I asked "who here knows for certain I am not armed?". Oh the tension was palpable, everyone looked towards the one door I was not sitting next to (I wasn't sitting in the back but there wasn't anyone sitting directly behind me for all intents and purposes). The started saying "but the sign! guns aren't allowed!" some folks thought I'd be breaking the law. In the end they understood that they couldn't tell, it wasn't illegal, and they were left to be victims. Now, a large black man in plain clothes did pop in a few seconds/minutes later and didn't leave until I was done talking and then some. At the end I had these kids realizing that their calls for "gun control", "insurance", "licensing", "training" were all good ideas in theory, but they were only going to hurt one group of people the most - the poor. And they admitted to me that, yes, most black people are poor, and a single mother living in a bad neighborhood couldn't afford a $2000 training class/ammo, $500/mo insurance, and $1000/yr licensing just to protect her children. They understood that gun control was how their beloved socialist/communists got the masses under control by killing 100million+ of the political dissidents in their countries. And of course at the end the moderator told me she thought maybe only heterosexual white males shouldn't own guns, and she could say this because she was gay...sigh.

Today, we had Supreme Court Justice Keagan talking to students. It was an interesting experience being so close to someone in a position of such debate in politics. I'll let you all know if I'm allowed to talk about the questions asked. But just as exciting was the response of the U.S Marshalls to my empty holster. One of them had their eyes bulge out (so say my fellow classmate, who is also a gun owner) as I walked in a few minutes late, apparently they followed me with their eyes and started texting a lot. I really wasn't planning on going, but thought the school went through the trouble of inviting someone like her down here, I should take the time to be there. Afterwards I went to the library (where I had been in a room since 9am). Apparently the dean of law and company had the same idea and took a shortcut as I saw said security detail a door away from my study room. I walked on by got my water bottle and as I went to fill it up (they were standing literally between my room and the water fountain waiting on Justice Keagan to come out of some special rare books room) I noticed the youngest agent was printing and asked what Marshalls carried. He didn't respond right away, said it was classified, that I could probably google it or something. For the record, that info is on their website in an article titled "A day in the life...". As I am filling up my bottle the ULPD officer gets REAL close behind me and asks what I carry. "HK P30 full size in 9mm". He asked for my name. _____. Last name? _____ He thought he recognized me. I told him his boss did. About what, he asked? Campus carry. Oh, that's right, I was part of that whole thing with the..."tasers, open carrying" I put in. "But you're not the one open carrying a Taser, that's..." ______ "yes Mr. _____" the officer finished. To be fair, now that I think about it I think he was the guy that stuck around the debate after my gun question....maybe that's why he said I looked familiar. I made sure the suits could hear the conversation. "Campus carry" and "Taser" got their attention.

And I think that's everything, for now muahahahaha!

  23. Work with Congress on a Repeal and Replace Obamacare ActFully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Mississippian confused

samedi 22 octobre 2016

I work for long terms (a month or two) in different states. As Mississippi is a constitutional state I do not have a CCW. But in states that allow carry without a permit I carry. Before coming to Georgia, to work on your new Vogtle nuclear plant, I read that open carry is only allowed with a permit, so I have not carried here. However, I came across a guy in Walmart today who was open carrying and asked him about it. He said it was legal to open carry without a permit and the fine for concealed carry without a permit is only $25. Is this guy misinformed or am I?

Inside Paul 'Rat' Ryan’s Months-Long Campaign to Elect Hillary Clinton President

"[ ... ]
“I am delighted to be the Senator from Punjab [India] as well as from New York,” Clinton reportedly told a group of Indian-Americans on Capitol Hill in 2005. “I can certainly run for the Senate seat in Punjab and win easily,” Clinton told a group of Indian donors on a separate occasion. Clinton’s remarks became the subject of a hard-hitting 2007 memo circulated by the Obama campaign that labeled his Democratic primary opponent as “Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)”– implying that Clinton represents foreign nations and citizens rather than her own American constituents.

Similarly, Ryan has said that he, too, sees his role as a U.S. lawmaker to be the representative of foreign nationals—and, in particular, foreign citizens of India. In 2013, Ryan said he believes that it’s the job of a U.S. lawmaker to “put yourself in… [the] shoes” of foreign citizens such as “the gentleman from India who’s waiting for his green card.”

Both Clinton and Ryan view being American as an intellectual “idea” rather than a national identity, and both support the donor-class’s agenda of open borders, which—as Bernie Sanders has explained—essentially amounts to “doing away with the concept of a nation-state.”

Open Carry Permit? Is there one and how do I get one?

vendredi 21 octobre 2016

Hello my name is Aidan, I live in St. George Utah I recently was given a handgun as a moving out present from my grandfather I'm almost 19 years old and have had handgun and rifle training as well as have taken hunter safety, and have grown up around firearms and hunted since I was about 9. I recently read up on open carry laws and found out the legal minimum age is 18. I have all the rules down pat and was just wondering how to get the Permit for open carry on the site it says the minimum OC age is 18(with valid permit). I searched all over the internet and for the life of me couldn't find how to get an open carry permit, and was wondering if anyone on here could help me out. Every time I search for an open carry permit it only pops up with Concealed carry permits, so I've been pretty confused. Is it just like getting a Concealed where you have to go to a local gunshop/office that is authorized to deal in them or is it something I have to get through the city?

Stolen Valor Sheriff

This Asshat is running for office in Kleberg County. He said in a debate he was a "Desert Storm Veteran, Desert Shield, Liberation of Kuwait. Purple Heart Recipient. Honorably Discharged Veteran" He even handed out cards saying he was a "Desert Storm Veteran". Turns out he never deployed in support of any of those operations and the "purple heart" came from the Police Department, not the military (But he never felt the need to clarify that). Claims the card was a "typo" and should have said "Gulf War Era" veteran, but if you knew it was a typo why would you still give them out. Also, I want to clear something up. Just cause you served in the military during a time of war doesn't give you the right to claim to be a veteran of said war. If you never put boots in Vietnam, you are not a Vietnam Veteran. Same goes for Korea, Desert Storm, Iraq/Afghanistan.

How can one person completely change the results of a survey? PLOS Blog

Surveys are challenging to design and execute, and there's no shortage of details on the nuances of how to do them well. In public health, we rely heavily on samples, as measuring everyone you are interested is often impractical. However, this requires a lot of thought and development in order to avoid unintentionally biasing your sample, as was the case for the USC Dornslife/LA Times Daybreak poll.

Last week, a story came out about how one 19-year old black man in Illinois was single-handedly changing the standings of the US Presidential election. This was based on the results from the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Daybreak, a survey of voter attitudes on “a wide range of political, policy, social and cultural issues.” In this survey, Donald Trump has generally held the lead, until last week, when Hillary Clinton came out in front. Interestingly, this is markedly different than most other national polls, that have shown Clinton is generally ahead, or a much closer contest than that poll would have you believe. So what happened?

The concept is likely to generate backlash from those opposed to the militarization of police as tensions are already high among authorities and minority communities over police killings of black men. “The public is going to initially be alarmed by this,” Jim Bueermann, president of the Police Foundation, a research group, who viewed the drone at the conference and talked with a Taser employee about it.

City of Taylor Mill

jeudi 20 octobre 2016

The thread on the City of Wilder has some references to some confusion over policies and problems at a the parks in a nearby city, Taylor Mill. You can see those posts here:

http://ift.tt/2dEZi9l

I found a Taylor Mill city ordinance that prohibits possession of firearms in city parks. Here is the relevant part of that ordinance:

Nobody other than officers and employees of the city shall cause, promote, permit, allow, aid, assist, encourage or engage in any of the following activities or occurrences within Pride Park, which is located at 5614 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY.

(A) The presence of anybody within the boundaries of the park anytime after dusk and before dawn, without special authorization from the city commission.

(B) The possession of a firearm by anybody other than members of the Taylor Police Department or any other peace officer.

(C) The discharge or display of any fireworks without both a state permit and specific authorization from the commission therefore.

I sent an email to the City Manager, Jill Bailey. On Monday, the city attorney called me and we had a conversation about the ordinance. Every time I referenced KRS 65.870, he would tell me that he was familiar with the statute, but he didn't seem to really know anything about it. Now, he could have been trying to see if I knew anything about it, but I don't think so. Today, Thursday, he sent me a copy of an amended ordinance to review and comment on. That amendment can be seen here:

http://ift.tt/2dEYwJP

This amended ordinance should be read at the City Commissioners meeting on Nov. 9 and then again in Dec. for a final adoption. If that schedule is followed, Taylor Mill will just get under the wire to avoid being 4 years late in complying with KRS 65.870.

Tow truck driving

Had someone tell me that RTTO (Registered Tow Truck Operators) were not allowed to let their drivers go out armed, by law.

Asked them to at least cite the law, they didn't know. I cannot find any such prohibition in the law.

Could anyone here please help me clear this up? I ask because of the great minds that post here. Also I am not finding any such law. Any court cases showing one way or the other would be great also.

Thank you for your help.

Denied Permit to Purchase Minnesota

In 2002 I was arrested for 5th degree DV for a verbal argument with my then GF. This was non violent and it has been my only run in with the law in all my 52 years.

In court the DA offered a plea bargain. I pleaded guilty to Disorderly Conduct. I was told that this would not be on my record.
My case file shows:

5th Degree Domestic Assault - Misdemeanor - Dismissed
Disorderly Conduct - Misdemeanor - Guilty.

Now, today I received a denial letter from my local police department. In it it says the reason was " Convicted of 5th Dergree DV" .

I printed out my case file and went to the police department. The officer tried very hard to come up with something as a valid reason that my permit was denied. I kept pointing out that I was never convicted on what they used for reason but he kept telling me that Federal Law "might" be the reason why a "conviction" would not be needed but merely a plea down.
They showed me their printout of my paperwork and it it it does say "convicted of 5th degree assault" but that is clearly not correct. My document I have is directly from the court.

They said they would meet with the city attorney to discuss as they clearly had no other valid explanation why my permit was denied, at least they ran out of excuses in my mind.

Now, if I wasn't convicted of the DV, could a plea down still prevent me from obtaining a permit?

Before I go down the appeals route I wanted to see if anyone had some input on this.

Thanks !!

Why the globalist elite should drop Hillary and support TRUMP

"[ ... ]
While obviously targeted at the Alt Right Audience, it is also aimed, with all due respect, at our Globalist Overlords, who could perhaps take a few tips from the Alt Right about possible ways forward.

Along with issues like immigration, the economy, and geopolitics, there has been much talk of the Globalist Elite during this election. But despite this there has not been a single article about the who, what, and where of this shady group in the mainstream U.S media. Amazing, I know! Nor have we seen it discussed anywhere what they want.

To throw things into relief, I would like to view Trump and the Globalist Elite as opposed forces in this election, and in history itself. In a sense, Donald Trump represents the force of Manifest Destiny and even God Almighty in a Manichean sense, something that the God Emperor memes subterraneanously sense.

Is Your Home Bulletproof?

mardi 18 octobre 2016

Well this is something often discussed in firearms groups, survivalist and police circles.

Is Your Home Bulletproof?

Just **thrown off** a Cincinnati Metro bus while legally carrying my firearm!

First, some background...

Cincinnati SORTA is the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority. "Metro" is the name of the bus component of SORTA.

Cincinnati's latest waste of taxpayer money is the "streetcar", which runs on steel rails and is powered by overhead electricity. It was due to start running this past summer, and an out-of-state friend of mine indicated that he thought he saw that they were going to post 'No Guns' signage. So, I used the streetcar's feedback page to ask "Are people allowed to carry firearms on the streetcar?" (8/9/16)

My query got an initial response (8/12) of "In consultation between Metro and the City, it has been determined that weapons are not allowed on the streetcar. The policy is the same as Metro bus." As you might expect, that produced a records request from me a number of e-mails about the delayed response, finally culminating in a response (9/2) from Andrew Garth, Cincinnati's Chief Counsel for Transportation and Major Infrastructure; copying in another Cincinnati attorney and I believe two transportation people.

Mr. Garth's response in part:

"Thank you for your email inquiry regarding carrying of firearms on the streetcar. I apologize for not responding sooner. I am writing to let you know that the City is in the process of performing a records search and review to determine if there are any documents responsive to your request, which I’ve replicated below along with status updates. We are also using your request as an opportunity to educate persons working on streetcar matters about Ohio’s open carry and concealed carry laws.

As an initial matter, I want to clarify that the streetcar is operated by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, not the City of Cincinnati. The City has no formal policy or ordinance applicable to the carrying of firearms on the streetcar. Accordingly, I must clarify that Mr. Deatrick’s prior email response to you concerning SORTA’s weapons policies in connection with Metro bus was a good faith effort to provide you with helpful information, but his response regarding the applicability of Metro bus policies to the streetcar was premature. If SORTA in its capacity as operator of the streetcar establishes a streetcar-related protocol concerning firearms (to my knowledge, they have not adopted any such policy), the City anticipates that such a policy will take into account applicable Ohio law – including open carry and concealed carry rights. At this time, the Cincinnati Police representatives involved in City streetcar matters are aware of your inquiry and have indicated that they will not interfere with the right to open carry or concealed carry on streetcars consistent with Ohio law. (Note, however, that the revised code (ORC 2923.16) does limit the manner of open on motor vehicles, including in the public transit context.) ..."

I finally received a meaningful response to my records request (10/10), including a document which shows what I believe to be Metro's willingness to be sneaky about their firearms policy (I'll save everyone the detail), which prompted yet another note to Mr. Garth, et al, on 10/11. I haven't received a response to my note yet.

So... that's the background.

The next post is my e-mail to various parties, including Mr. Garth, the other Cincinnati attorney, and the transportation people.

Why would the NRA-ILA endorse Trump without grading him? The answer is simple. His grade would not merit endorsement. He would be at best an Aq which is not good enough for NRA Endorsement. That is the best grade he could get because he has no legislative experience.

What kind of handgun is this?

lundi 17 octobre 2016

This shouldn't be too hard. I'm actually surprised I can't figure it out myself.

THIS link includes a picture of a pistol. It appears to have a double action type trigger and possibly an ambidextrous manual safety. At first I thought it was a Para in LDA but none of them that I've seen had a squared trigger guard like that.

Any clues?

I follow some gun guys on instagram and one of them posted a picture of his shield in an IWB holster but his shirt was tucked in behind it. You could only see the grip and part of the back of the slide of the gun. Are there laws that say "x" parts of the weapon must be visible in order for it to be considered open carry?

Simsbury CT Application Process input

Hey guys i wanted to share my experience with the town of Simsbury. I have not heard anything about this town at all on this site so my input should be nice.

I handed in my application on October 5th. Everyone was very nice at the PD, no problems at all. Had everything in order, the records supervisor said 6 - 8 weeks.

Some info about me: White, mid to late 20's, clean record.

Hopefully it goes by quick, cant wait for the temp so i can run down to get my plastic. Would it be bad if i walked in to the PD at the 4 week mark or so to ask how everything is? Or is it just useless and i should let it run its course. I don't think it will go past the 8 week mark..but iv read so many horror stories on this site. Simsbury is not a large town.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Ill post back for answers or when i get the temp and someone can record the time. Thanks!

Donald Trump's Moral Fervor. AmericanThinker.com

By James Lewis
At a time when the "news" media betray their own hyped up values of objectivity and fairness, I am beginning to hear a growing voice of moral outrage in America – and it's actually expressed in clear words, day after day, by the Republican nominee for president of the United States. That would be Donald Trump.

That last sentence is bound to set any lost and lonely lefty loony screaming with hysterical laughter, but hyenas are what they are. From the hyena's point of view, Republicans are just another meat. The GOP establishment is shivering in the foxholes, and its members are losing voters as fast as Trump gains them. If Trump tells his supporters to vote against down-ballot Republicans, the establishment will reverse course. They count on our stupidity and our goodwill, but we are no longer stupid. [my emphasis]

EU News. Swedes Snap Up Illegal Batons and Stun Guns for Self-Defense.

Despite Swedes' reputation as a peaceful and mild-mannered people, confiscations of batons at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport have exploded in 2016, Swedish state broadcaster SVT revealed. According to Swedish customs authorities, batons are being illegally ordered abroad by Swedish citizens for self-defense.
[ ... ]
The customers are most often young men aged 18 to 35, who by their own admission want to protect themselves and their loved ones, yet elderly women also have been reported among baton buyers. Swedish authorities were obviously taken aback by the findings and failed to produce a reasonable explanation.
[ ... ]
Whereas the Swedish authorities refused to speculate on the reasons why law-abiding Swedes have decided to arm themselves, the mass acquisition of illegal weapons seems to coincide with a surge in crime that hit urban areas across the country.

Orange County, home to the University of North Carolina in nearby Chapel Hill, is overwhelmingly Democratic. Democrats and independents outnumber Republicans 5-1.

Hillsborough police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were continuing to investigate.

Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the state GOP, called the bombing “political terrorism.”

“The office itself is a total loss,” he said. “The only thing important to us is that nobody was killed, and they very well could have been.”

Later, Woodhouse said, “Whether you are Republican, Democrat or Independent, all Americans should be outraged by this hate-filled and violent attack against our democracy. … Everyone in this country should be free to express their political viewpoints without fear for their own safety.”

Sheriff David Clarke on national politics, "It's Pitchforks and Torches Time!" MJS

David A. Clarke Jr. — Milwaukee County’s law-and-order sheriff — lit up social media over the weekend by saying it’s “pitchforks and torches time.”

“It's incredible that our institutions of gov, WH, Congress, DOJ, and big media are corrupt & all we do is bitch,” Clarke wrote. “Pitchforks and torches time.”

It was one in a string of fiery tweets by Clarke, a surrogate for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

On Friday, Clarke pushed a similar theme, tweeting, "The federal gov has lost its healthy fear of the masses and WE THE PEOPLE. It is pitchfork & torches time in America."

The WSJ cracks first with 'The Press Buries Hillary's Sins' and Decadent Leadership

But even if average voters had the TV on 24/7, they still probably haven’t heard the news about Hillary Clinton: That the nation now has proof of pretty much everything she has been accused of.

It comes from hacked emails dumped by WikiLeaks, documents released under the Freedom of Information Act, and accounts from FBI insiders. The media has almost uniformly ignored the flurry of bombshells, preferring to devote its front pages to the Trump story.

Hello everyone

I never worry I’ll be shot in Chicago. After all, I’m white. Washington Post

Chicago has more homicides than any other city in the United States — more than New York and Los Angeles combined — but white people are nearly as safe here as in Europe. Through late September, more than 550 people in Chicago have been homicide victims this year. Of those, more than 400 were black, about 90 were Latino and fewer than 30 were “white/other,” even though we’re the most numerous ethnic category in the city and the surrounding area. (Fewer than 10 victims were categorized as being of “unknown” ethnicity.) The black homicide rate last year was 46 per 100,000, higher than it was a decade ago. The white rate, which has declined, was 2.7. That means blacks are 17 times more likely to be killed than whites.
[ ... ]
There’s a ridiculous trope — put forward by the makers of TV crime dramas, auto alarm systems, handguns and attack ads against soft-on-crime politicians — that white people who set foot in the inner city are prey for African American criminals. Even my black neighbors believe it. “I think Caucasians who walk down this street are pretty brave,” one of the sneaker store owners told me. “I think the black people are brave,” I said. “They’re the ones who get shot.”

Donald Trump brought up Chicago’s violence in last Monday night’s presidential debate, arguing that the city needs to hire more police officers and adopt the stop-and-frisk policies which he credits with reducing New York City’s homicide rate, but which were ruled unconstitutional in 2013. “We need law and order in the inner cities, because the people that are most affected by what’s happening are African-American and Hispanic,” Trump said. He may not have the right solutions, but he is right about the racial disparities in the city’s slayings.

Crime racially motivated outside the discussion of gun violence. Podesta Wikileaks

vendredi 14 octobre 2016

You know where I stand on this. It can be racially motivated and gun violence should still very much be part of the discussion. Even more so here given that Jordan's mom is one of the leading gun violence prevention proponents in the country.

Judge dismisses Newtown families' lawsuit against Remington Arms

Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis on Friday granted a motion by Madison, North Carolina-based Remington Arms to strike the lawsuit by the families of nine children and adults killed and a teacher who survived the 2012 attack. A gunman killed 20 children and six adults at the school with an AR-15-style rifle.

Bellis cited the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act passed by Congress in 2005 that protected gun makers from such lawsuits. The families' lawyers said their lawsuit was allowed under an exception to the act, but Bellis disagreed.

Voter Fraud Is Real. Here’s The Proof. The Federalist.com

"[ ... ] These are just some instances of voter fraud we know about. It would be silly to assume cases that have been discovered are the only cases of fraud. Indeed according to a Pew Research report from February 2012, one in eight voter registrations are “significantly inaccurate or no longer valid.” Since there are 146 million Americans registered to vote, this translates to a stunning 18 million invalid voter registrations on the books. Further, “More than 1.8 million deceased individuals are listed as voters, and approximately 2.75 million people have registrations in more than one state.” Numbers of this scale obviously provide ripe opportunity for fraud. Wringing out a Glock 35 MOS

I recently acquired a Glock 35 MOS and Tijicon RMR dot sight. Frist thing I did was shoot it with the Iron sights The thing shoots high with the rear sight at lowest adjustment. I had the same problem with a Glock 34 the cure a lower rear sight.

I started to mount the RMR according to the directions and found that they don't have the right size screws to get the job done properly. The screws are too short and the sight came off the pistol after about 50 rounds.

They listed the screw size in the instruction book metric size listed off to the hardware store tried every metric screw that was even close none fit. Now to the English section and behold it takes a 6x32 brought several lengths and tried them on the sight and mounts and found the right length.

Remounted the sight and sighted it in just a tad high at 25. With various ammo 1.5 to 2 inch groups at that range several shooters had no trouble off a improvise rest to center punch 1 inch target plasters at 15 yards all the time.

Took it out to 50 yards and from a strong side barricade rest 3 inch groups. Out to 100 yards very disappointing 18 inch or so size groups. I have shot many much smaller groups with other handguns at 100 yards.

Up close and personnel say 3 to about 10 yards having trouble finding the dot and getting a quick flash sight picture and indexing properly on the target when shooting really fast I am shooting really high. I seem to be using the top of the RMR as the flash sight picture causing the my aim to be high.

It seems that after 50 years and around one hundred thousand plus rounds with iron sights my muscle memory and eyes are having a hard time adjusting to this.

I now have around 150 rounds through the combination. If I am going to carry it for self dense I really need to get those intermediate ranges down.

For precise slower shooting out to 50 yards put the dot on where you want to hit squeeze the trigger and hit what you are aiming at.

If I can't ring it out in another thousand rounds or so, back to irons and the RMR is going on a dedicated hunting handgun.

Some say the cure is high suppressor sights that co index with the dot might have to try that.

City of Wilder, cooperative violator

jeudi 13 octobre 2016

Wilder is a small city in northern Ky. Here is a city ordinance that contains their parks regulations, in part:

§ 93.01 REGULATIONS ON USE.

(A) The following rules and regulations are established for the use of municipal parks in the city.

(13) Rule 13: Firearms. No person shall carry or discharge firearms, slings, bows, or any other device by which persons, animals, or birds may be injured or frightened, and no one shall throw stones or other missiles within park property except with written permission of the Commission.

On Monday I sent an email to the Mayor and City Administrator about this city ordinance. Tuesday, I got a one line response. Here that is:

Just something that was overlooked. It will be taken care of.

I investigated a little and found out that they have a City Commissioners meeting scheduled for Monday night. I sent a second email and suggested they get busy and rewrite the ordinance and have the first reading on Monday night. In reality, I never expected that they would move that fast or even could move that fast.

Four hours later I got this reply:

Yes the ordinance is already prepared for next Monday night’s meeting. Attached is a copy.

I'm not going to post the amended ordinance, because they just deleted "Rule 13" and renumbered the rest of the rules and moved on. I wish that other people would move this fast, cooperate one tenth as much, be half as polite and use as much good sense as this small city's officials.

Windcreek State Park>>No Open Carry Signs

I visited Windcreek State Park this past weekend and while visiting the Marina, inside the park, I saw this sign on the front door.

When I asked about it, and exactly what it meant, I was told that firearms carry was OK, but they did not want them to be seen. I questioned further, but the clerks really did not have a clue about Alabama laws, so I let it drop and decided to contact somebody in management with the park system.

I have contacted the Alabama State Parks director this week via e-mail, and asked for an explanation, and why the sign is there.

When I hear back from him, I will let everybody know what he says.

The Vanishing Center of American Democracy, UVa Inst. for Advanced Studies in Culture

The dramatic twists and turns of the 2016 presidential race exposed profound shifts in America’s political culture that challenge the legitimacy of the governing institutions of our democracy, according to report authors James Davison Hunter and Carl Desportes Bowman. The Vanishing Center reveals the multiplying fault lines of a culture war that pits many of America’s highly educated and prosperous against the less-educated and economically struggling.

The Institute’s 2016 Survey of American Political Culture limns the contours and depths of Americans’ dissatisfaction not only with the economy, electoral politics, and our political leaders but with the very underpinnings of our political culture.

http://ift.tt/2e0ttXB

http://ift.tt/2e0tScA

New political survey finds US is increasingly 'two nations in one'
"Hunter cited survey findings that confirm these levels of disaffection:
  • Nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of the American public has little to no confidence that the government in Washington will actually solve the problems it sets its mind to solve.
  • Vast majorities of those polled believe that most politicians are more interested in winning elections than in doing what is right, and that while the system of government is good, the people running it are incompetent.
  • Significant majorities agree most elected officials don't care what they think and that they don't have any say about what the government does.

Burn It Down, Donald! The Grumpy Old Party.

A delicious consolation has been presented to us. Even if, God forbid, Donald Trump should lose the election to Evil Hillary it appears as though he will burn down the Republican Party on his way out.

In other words, while we are counting on him to win, the destruction of the establishment GOP would at least leave us in better shape than we would have been in if Trump had never thrown his hat in the ring. Hunter Wallace of Occidential Dissent has written extensively about this matter.

Instructor pilot survivor, Jordanian intentionally crashed PA-34 near Pratt&Whitney

Flight student Feras Freitekh, 28, died Tuesday when the twin-engine plane he was flying crashed just outside the headquarters of Pratt & Whitney. His instructor survived the crash and told investigators it was no accident the Piper PA-34 Seneca exploded near the military and commercial jet engine maker’s complex.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a statement Tuesday confirming the FBI’s involvement and indicators that “the crash is the result of an intentional act,”

http://ift.tt/2eh0FgO

On Wednesday afternoon, the Associated Press said a "U.S. official familiar with the investigation" said it appears to have been a case of suicide, not terrorism.

"The official says the flight instructor described the student pilot to police investigators as disgruntled about learning to be a pilot. The official says the instructor told police there was an altercation in the cockpit during their training flight, and the instructor was unable to regain control of the plane from the student pilot," the Associated Press said on Wednesday.

East Hartford Police Lt. Josh Litwin confirmed that the crash was "intentional."

OC in the workplace

Hey guys! I recently started oc-ing in my office due to a very scary situation that took place. After being threatened, I decided to protect myself. Now that I oc, my boss wants to make a big deal out of it. Can someone please tell me what legal stand point I have to oc here. P.S. I do plan on getting my Concealed Permit within 2 weeks. I work in a not so great area and due to all the "crazies" running around here, I feel safer than ever before! Thanks in advance y'all!
