The Republican House leadership has released the names of the Chairs of all the House Committees. Notably, Joe Fischer will be the new Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Judiciary is the committee that has historically been sent most of the Gun bills. Fischer has been Vice Chair under Democrat Chair Daryl Owen for several years. He know the workings of the committee. A Vice Chair has little to no power. There will presumably be a Democrat Vice Chair this year. The Committee on "Veterans, Military Affairs & Public Protection" will be Chaired by Tim Moore of E-town. Last year Representative Moore introduced HB 221, that would have eliminated almost all gun free zones on public property in the state. That would have included K-12 schools, College campuses, city and county buildings. A few gun bills have gone through this committee in the past and it could happen again. It is great to have such a strong gun rights representative in this position. I can't wait to see how the full committee assignments work out. This is going to be exciting.
