This question relates to KY however I wanted to ask the question in the wider forum as it's an unusual situation.
I am in the process of naturalisation to a US citizen (Currently just a permanent resident). I'm aware I need to carry out a hunters education course on top of any normal requirements (Background check etc) and that I may only open carry. My job role does not provide a firearm and I expected to search for missing/dangerous persons in remote and isolated areas hence the need.
My curiosity is whether I, as a non-citizen can take the education course and private purchase/receive the gift of a hand gun from a colleague or my partners father. It would make sense that I only need have whatever certificate the hunter education course may offer whilst carrying however I am struggling to get clarification on whether this is acceptable or if I must go through a dealer.
