Phone makers to enable encryption by default, government orgs mount pouty faces

I've been reading article after article about the decision of Apple and Google to have device encryption enabled in their operating systems by default going forward, and the predictable but despicable response from government agencies throughout the nation.

Here's a slew of articles that I haven't fully read (I can't remember which ones I've already read):

"Carney accused smartphone companies of offering encryption as “something expressly to allow people to place themselves beyond the law.” Horse ****! I guess it's time to disable encryption in all government datacenters, wouldn't want them to be above the law or anything. ******* idiots. The smartphone companies are making this change expressly to protect their users from lawlessness.
